COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Very yeasty. You can see it, smell it and taste it. Nothing else to put my finger on, pure hefeweizen. Soft carb. Still not my kind of beer and this is not the best I’ve had. Yet I suppose this is as basic a hefe as it can be?

Bought this draught for the bar I manage, was supposed to be the Dunkelweisse. Sure as shit isn’t. Cloudy lemon rind yellow with two fingers of creamy eggshell white head. Nose is so so, first time I spelled it I got a weird peanut thing going on, now its mostly sourdough bread with some of the clove phenolic. Hints of banana come through. Ok, flavor definitely reminds me of peanut butter. Medium body with a crisp quality.

50 cl bottle, BBE 16.03.2010. Rated on 30.03.2010
Murky orange colour, big head. Aroma is sweetish and stale with banana, wheat, bubblegum and hints of vanilla. – rather typical to a weisse. Palate is low on CO2. Flavour has banana, vanilla and hints of cardboard. Not good, probably a bit too old bottle.

500 ml flip-top bottle oicked up in Germany. Murky orange-gold color. a thin, but lasting white head. Typical banana, clove, vanilla, hefe aromas, but a bit faint. Crisp, smooth and refreshing palate. Taste is dominated by vanilla and smooth but not one of the better Weizens

Bottle 50, a cloudy golden beer with medium head. Nose is slightly fruity. Aroma is low malty, medium sweet to low, hopy and well carbonated, but quite basic.

Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 11, 2011
Leicht fruchtiger, sehr hefiger Antrunk. Pretty turgid, despite having been left to sit for a day or two in the fridge. Lovely golden color, dense head. Aroma is spicy, but not all that sweet. Loads of pepper and bread in the aroma, not banana or bubblegum per se or any of those kinds of descriptors. Bready, tangy, citric quality to the flavor; very "wheaty." Some pepper in the flavor too. Good. When warm this is not the smoothest beer in the throat. Quite full-bodied even when cold.

ogivlado (4444) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JUL 15, 2010
swing top bottle 500ml. -Murky orange coloured, medium sized white head, odd meaty and overripe fruits nose. Moderate malty, slight wheaty and yeasty with notes of banana and overripe fruit. Touch of caramel near the end. Had this one 30 days out of BBE, so fresh one should be better (maybe).

judasbeer (431) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUN 9, 2010
Appearance: Hazy golden color with a orangy tint and a bubble-full lively-carbonated exterior. Huge pillowy white head on the top.
Aroma: Smooth vanilla, banana-filled scent with moderate sweetness.
Flavor: Sweet honey-dipped grainy, nutty malt backbone endowed with a banana, yolk and vanilla-like yeast quality. Finished to a moderately spicey clove finish.
Mouthfeel/Palate: Medium body with a thick and nutritive impression. Lively, balanced carbonation. Dense yeast quality.
Overall: A very well-crafted flavorful bavarian hefe-wheat.
