Poured from a brown pint-sized swing-top bottle, this brew is an opaque dark mahogany in the glass and is capped by a modest sized pale tan head. The aroma is dark caramel with some milk chocolate. The flavor puts the chocolate first, puts the caramel away, adds a hint of dark brown sugar, and suggests a mild earthy bitterness. Not too sweet, just tasty.
I always thought that a decent Schwarzbier made a nice soothing drink. I am soothed.

Tumma, iso mutta nopeasti häviävä vaahto. Pientä hapotusta, hivenen yrttinen maku. Suutuntuma jää mausteista huolimatta laimeaksi, ohueksi ja lyhyeksi. Ei niin kovin mystinen olut.

Typical Leikeim 0,5 l swing top bottle. Nearly black in the glass, medium light tanned head. Low malty on the nose. Starts roastmalty, light sourness. Caramell in the background. Boring and not really enjoyable.

Bottle poured a clear deep brown hue w/ big creamy fully diminishing head and no lacing. Moderate sweet malty aromas. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light bitter finish of short duration. Taste is malt forward w/ a light roast, roasted marshmallow, toast, caramel, and dark breads. Medium bodied, avg carbonation, and creamy mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

dark, cola-like colour, grat creamy beige head; aroma of roasted malts, some minimal coffee and grassy hops; taste of roasted malts again with coffee-notes and grassy hops and hay; correct swarzbier

Fliptop bottled, 0.5 l. Label says that a Pils brew mixed with a dark one, so it truly looks like a Schwarzbier, but smells and tastes rather like a Pils with an aroma ruled by bread, grass and dough underpainted by mild caramel and coffee notes. Finish is grassy-roasty, dry. Overall an easy drinkable and pleasantly refreshing dark brew with a light 2 medium body.

GoufCustom (793) - HONG KONG - JAN 5, 2014

500 ml flip-top bottle as “Leikeim Schwarzes” bought at Lafaco & Co’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during Hong Kong Food Festival 2013.

Clear Cola blackish brown colour; One finger head and crumpety light beige foam which last for 2 minutes; Moderate sticky lacing and active carbonation; Sweet aroma of roasted malt, with caramel, light cream, faint black coffee, molasses and strong straw; Mid to light sweet taste of strong roasted dark malt, with metallic, light black coffee, cola, nuts, strong liquorices, lemon and very strong strawy hops; Light body, watery and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is thin black coffee and watered down cola base filled with really bitter hops and lemon. Also quite metallic but bearable. Fairly low sweet, very roasty and nutty. Wow… Hoppiness is strong straw nose, very potent lemon and strawy grassy taste. Liquorices is close to German Pils level, really bitter and astringency for a lasting, memorable finish; Slightly dry after taste, Roasty and really bitter to mouth.

Comments: I had no expectation for this one, so I was pretty shaked up by its full-on roastiness and German Pils-like bitterness. However these goodies were offset by metallic and lack of variety in taste. Overall it’s simple, bold and hoppy. A real beer for tough guys!
