3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 10/3/2013. Pours fairly crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of cocoa, coffee, toast, toffee, brown bread, light nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity and solid balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and moderate dark fruit notes; with solid strength. A bit too fruity in the nose, but not bad. Taste of cocoa, coffee, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, slight fruitiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Slight herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cocoa, coffee, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Nice and clean flavors with minimal yeast esters present in the taste. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. All around good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a brown pint-sized swing-top bottle, this brew is an opaque dark mahogany in the glass and is capped by a modest sized pale tan head. The aroma is dark caramel with some milk chocolate. The flavor puts the chocolate first, puts the caramel away, adds a hint of dark brown sugar, and suggests a mild earthy bitterness. Not too sweet, just tasty.
I always thought that a decent Schwarzbier made a nice soothing drink. I am soothed.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tumma, iso mutta nopeasti häviävä vaahto. Pientä hapotusta, hivenen yrttinen maku. Suutuntuma jää mausteista huolimatta laimeaksi, ohueksi ja lyhyeksi. Ei niin kovin mystinen olut.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Typical Leikeim 0,5 l swing top bottle. Nearly black in the glass, medium light tanned head. Low malty on the nose. Starts roastmalty, light sourness. Caramell in the background. Boring and not really enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Fliptop bottled, 0.5 l.
Label says that a Pils brew mixed with a dark one, so it truly looks like a Schwarzbier, but smells and tastes rather like a Pils with an aroma ruled by bread, grass and dough underpainted by mild caramel and coffee notes.
Finish is grassy-roasty, dry.
Overall an easy drinkable and pleasantly refreshing dark brew with a light 2 medium body.
