COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

bottle. murky brown body with a tall and rocky tan head. estery banana cream and stale baked bread nose with minor lemon oil accents. light body, soft carbonation, watery texture, and a rather plain and boring flavor, very papery with muted banana / clove / herb esters and more baked crackers and stale bread. quickly thinning finish. very basic.

Pours a hazy brown and has some slightly banana esters, not much else going on, not one of the better representatives of the style.

Swing-top by 17.10.12, buttled as Leikeim Dunkle Weisse. Chocolate and sticky toffee dominate the nose. Taste, though, is surprisingly fruity, with the previous two reduced to a sort of crème de cacao that heats on its way out. Spicy, phenol-rich medium body. Dark chestnut body, tan-to-light brown head. I’m not usually one for DWs but this one has a lot of vitality.

Dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is malty, banana, and spices. Lightly sweet, no bitterness, good malt, banana, classic german beer flavor. Medium body.

Bottle. I thought I was grabbing a Hrfr today out of the beer cellar. Did not know it was a Dunkle till I started pouring. Hazy, nutty brown with a dense, creamy, beige head. Lightly sweet aroma of roasted malt and fruit. Medium body with sour and sweet notes of malt and some banana. It’s alright.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, light brown, fully lasting. Body is cloudy medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, toasted grain, graham cracker), with light notes of banana. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft/lively carbonation. Kinda mild and ordinary in the nose (nice malt though) and bland in the mouth, but the appearance and mouthfeel are nice. Meh.

Bottle:   Dirty and muddy brown, moderate to large frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Soft banana, clove, and bubblegum on the nose.   Less apparent than its lighter cousin.   Seems a very soft roast on the tongue, with less Weissbier flavors than its lighter version.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Feels wheaty, certainly isn’t heavy or yeasty, which I am thankful for.   Seems a bit spritzy tho... *BURP*   Seems a little average, but its clean and has nothing off about it.   A decent moderate example of a Hefedunkel.

500 ml swing top bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a large lasting creamy light tan head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, wheat, yeast and light fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, wheat and light yeast with a crisp lingering earthy finish.
