COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(bottle) Hazy, dark amber colour with a huge and persistent off-white foamy head. Sweet and slightly sour fruity aroma of toasted malt with a moderate wheat-character and berries. Sweet and slightly acidic flavour, light to medium bodied with a rather soft carbonation for a wheat-beer. Dark toasted malty taste with well-blended fruity notes of berries and banana and a whiff of ashes and chocolate, light to moderate wheat-character; almost dry, slightly toasty and wheaty fruity finish with a tinge of chocolate. Well-rounded Dunkelweizen. 16.XI.09

Bottle. I thought I was grabbing a Hrfr today out of the beer cellar. Did not know it was a Dunkle till I started pouring. Hazy, nutty brown with a dense, creamy, beige head. Lightly sweet aroma of roasted malt and fruit. Medium body with sour and sweet notes of malt and some banana. It’s alright.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, light brown, fully lasting. Body is cloudy medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, toasted grain, graham cracker), with light notes of banana. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft/lively carbonation. Kinda mild and ordinary in the nose (nice malt though) and bland in the mouth, but the appearance and mouthfeel are nice. Meh.

Bottle:   Dirty and muddy brown, moderate to large frothy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Soft banana, clove, and bubblegum on the nose.   Less apparent than its lighter cousin.   Seems a very soft roast on the tongue, with less Weissbier flavors than its lighter version.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Feels wheaty, certainly isn’t heavy or yeasty, which I am thankful for.   Seems a bit spritzy tho... *BURP*   Seems a little average, but its clean and has nothing off about it.   A decent moderate example of a Hefedunkel.

500 ml swing top bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a large lasting creamy light tan head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, wheat, yeast and light fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, wheat and light yeast with a crisp lingering earthy finish.

murky hazy tan, thin cream-bubbled ring. nose is mushroom and tea, bit lactic. Flavor is old and stale at front, wheat pancake and mushroom, toast through the finish. Thin, watery finish. Odd combination.

This poured a lighter brown color with a beige head. Aroma was caramel, bread, grassy hops, and some toast. Flavor was much the same, a bit caramelly sweet, but then grainy in the swallow.

Had this at Ratebeer’s Horny Devil Pittsburgh Winter Tasting 2012. Bottle said dunel weisse not schwarze so I hope this is the correct rating place. Dark dunkel, looks like hefe but quite brown. Leathery taste up front on a dunkel background. Slight vanilla aroma. Goodly amount of fun fine co2. Goes down easy and fun. Well behaved and gentlemanlike. Has a slight mild tart background on the finish. Not bad but this is one of my fave styles.

As Dunkel Weisse, but still 5.5% ABV. Hazy brown-orange, puffy, creamy off white foam, aroma is bready, caramel, taste is light oxidation, caramel, bready.

botw bottle said dunkle weisse. Very big head, took quite some time to dissipate. Hefty retention. Nose is sweet and caramel with banana bread, quite pleasant. Palate is grainy, nutty, not particularly full, but decent. Also some ripe bananas in there. Decent.

Bottle labled as Leikeim Dunkle Weisse. Aromaless. Cloudy brown, medium yellow head, poor retention. Astringent, little flavor. Slightly woody, but painfully bland.
