Jan 16, 2009 Updated: Mar 8, 2009Clear, dark red-brown pour. A significant beige head dissipates to leave a decent lacing. Aroma is faint, and what’s there is sulfury. Flavor has some pleasant grassy hops, but is mostly just stale, cardboard with some vegetable and sulfur elements. Somewhat caramelized and toasty on the finish. Thin to medium body, effervescent in the mouth, swallows smoothly.

Jan 16, 2009 Smells like freshly laid carpet. There is also some chocolate, roasted malt, raisins, and herbs. The appearance is brown with a respectable head that leaves lace. The flavor is about what I would expect a carpet to taste like. It does have the other elements from the aroma but way too much in the off department to be enjoyable. The palate is OK. Overall a rather typical beer from this brewer.

Jan 14, 2009 From the bottle pours mahogany, good clarity, with a small off-white head. Sweet nose, sweet caramel and doughy. Fairly heavy body, sweet toasty caramel malt start finish balanced bitter and a touch astringent.

Jan 14, 2009 Handsome pour from the bottle, a deep caramel/amber body with a tall, sustained light tan head and loads of lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with a splash of caramel and some burnt chocolate. The flavor is like chocolate chip cookie dough with a dash of caramel and a light earthy bitterness. Not bad. Purchased at Wise Guys in Merrillville, IN.

Jan 13, 2009 Pours reddish brown. Aroma is light maltiness with caramel standing out. Flavor is unimpressive very light malty notes and an odd bitter finish.

Jan 13, 2009 Thank you Leinenkugels for doing this, I needed a little faith in you. Aroma is mildly roasty, with some raisin, and a little nuttiness. The beer pours with a very nice head with wonderful retention and gorgeous lace. The color is a light chestnut. The flavor is good but not overwhelmingly so. This is certainly nutty, largely dry, and very mildly hoppy. Some light apple and plum round it out. Overall the palate is pretty weak and the beer is mildly watery, but by no means is it unforgivable.
