Dark, clear ruby color with a foamy off white head. Slight metallic aroma with hints of malt and grains. Strong roasted malt flavors with a slightly bitter finish and a minimal aftertaste . Medium bodied and finishes a little chalky and very smooth. Very enjoyable beer, but not the best.

Though retired, here’s my take on this. This was poured into a pilsener. The appearance was a hazy brown color with a two finger white to off white foamy and bubbly head. Light speckled lacing slides into the beer. The smell had some roasted nutty to caramel malts with a slight brown sugar in it. The taste was mainly sweet with a weird soapy flavoring underneath (uh...where did that come from?, ah oh well...). On the palate, this one sat pretty light for a bock. Sessionable, uh...yes very much so, probably could’ve pounded the entire sixer within two hours. Overall, uh...honestly, did Leinenkugel’s just pull off a session bock and not tell anyone? Hahaha, in my opinion, they could bring this back some day and call it a "Session Bock." New style, then? Ha, perhaps.

The body has good clarity and a dark brownish color with a nice big fluffy head on top. The head is white in color and doesn’t hang out for long. Before it settles down to just a wispy thin layer it does make a few lace rings on the glass. Its aroma is full of sweet malt and dark bready notes, The flavor has a sweet and bready character with caramel notes, soft pretzel, and light nutty notes. The finish adds some mild hop notes for balance and a little dryness. Still overall it finishes on the sweet side. On the palate it has a good medium to full body with nice active carbonation and a smooth slick texture.

Reviewed from notes: pours a nice brown color with off-white head. Caramel malt, roasted malt, and some pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Nice bock beer.

4/18/2010. From bottle. Deep amber color with a white head. Sweet caramel aromas with malt, fruit and citrus. Flavors are sweet with light hops. Meh...

Pours orangish amber. Average head. Too sweet for my taste. Some caramel and honey.

Nose is caramel, malt, light hop. Taste is bitter, medium bodied. Love the concept here, sad to see it go. Rated from notes taken over a year ago.

Backlog rating 1-10-2009 (Bottle) Label says 5.2% ABV. This beer pours a medium sized tan semi-fizzy head with poor retention, transparent body, visible carbonation, one ring of lacing, and an orange hue with a red tint. The Aroma is malty, caramel, hoppy and roasty. The Taste mimics the Aroma. The Palate is tingly and this is a light-medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer is quaffable, but not true to style.

This spring seasonal beer is fairly dark in color as is normal with bock beers and has a fairly inviting smell. It does come with a rather strong bitter taste. Not quite to the point that an IPA does but still bitter. Not the best bock beer on the market but for a local Wisconsin $6/6pack it certainly is worth a try.

Tap. Red color with thick white head. Sweet caramel, roasty aroma. Tastes of roasted malts with a little sweetness. Light bitter finish. Below average carbonation. Decent bock.
