pkbites (309), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Feb 10, 2007 I had 3 pints of this on tap tonight (2/10/2007) at the Charcoal Grill in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Nice apple juice aroma and amber color. Starts off sweet, but not as sweet as anticipated. I expected this to either taste like a hard cider or a lager beer with apple juice mixed in.
It really has it’s own niche flavor wise.
Unlike most "flavored" brews this one doesn’t get sickening tasting after just one (evidenced by the fact that I drank 3 in a row over dinner). This would make a great lawn mowing beer if it weren’t so God damned expensive. I see it for $7.99 a six pack in the stores! NO WAY, JAKE! NO FRIGGIN’ WAY!! Other than the price I like it. Very refreshing! DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2007 Bottle from Half Time. Medium gold color with aroma and flavor of apple, plus brown sugar and cinnamon. Very cidry, and very drinkable, although this one will not satiate a beer drinker. Still, not bad as such. eckerljj (7), oxford, Ohio, USA does not count Jan 19, 2007 pours nice, clear golden color without much head. The aroma is definately apple and spice, too bad the taste doesn’t match. The flavor comes on strong. leaves a strong flavor on your palate. This would be a great beer for a nonbeer drinker. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Jan 16, 2007 Bottle. Poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma of apple and clove is present. Has the taste of an apple cider with some clove at the end. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jan 9, 2007 Sour apple aroma from the very light pale yellow body. Medium body. Tastes a heck of a lot like applesauce--with a tart kick in the end. Not bad at all. IPAndy (120), minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jan 6, 2007 I have no idea how they do this, but it tastes like apple juice. Do they actually add sugar to this stuff? So sweet and gimmicky. I was angry to see this stuff at the Heorot in Muncie, IN on my return home for Christmas IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jan 6, 2007 Saw this at Halftime, and after doing the first mandatory "WTF?!?", I decided I had to pick one up, just for the heck of it. Poured an effervescent golden with a tall fizzy white head. Powerful aroma of granny smith apples, cinnamon, vanilla, a dash of nutmeg, and old musty attic. I wasn’t sure quite what to expect for the flavor, but it surprised me at being, well, not bad. Some red delicious apples coupled with a bit of acidity and cinnamon, backed by quite a bit of dry toffee. Not especially sweet, which helps distinguish this from a cider. Little to no hop character, which doesn’t surprise me, and is all the better for the beer. Wouldn’t want those pine needles with my apples. Finishes a tad dry with some apple and toffee. I probably wouldn’t recommend this for anything more than as a compelling little novelty, but considering my preconceived doubts, it held up pretty well. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Dec 30, 2006 Yellow with a very slight haze. Large head, turning frothy, leaving a little lace. Aroma is apples and cinnamon. Taste is the same with a background of sweet malt thrown in. Finish is tangy like a cider.
I really can’t point to any ingredient that has been overdone. I guess I just find the combination misguided.
