Smelled like cider, hints of some malt. Tasted alot like cider, kind of like pop. Some hints of cinnamon. Not bad. FlssmrBrewAlum (1116), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 31, 2008 A rating in honor of the retirement. I remember the first time I had this brew: Murphy’s Pub (Champaign, IL) visiting some friends. Hawkeyes trounce Illini. Same old story. This brew poured a sickly pale yellow with a white head, white head that dies down completely. No lacing. Aromas are straight apple cider, sweet and cloying. It’s hard to pick a lot of spice out of this brew. It is sweet apple juice with a touch of cinnamon, an alco-pop at best, and not too palatable. Cheesy. Tacky. Bring on the Fireside Brown! Let’s give it a go! CanIHave4Beers (873), Des Moines, Iowa, USA

Good deal, I was never particularly thrilled with this beer. I have always been pretty loyal to Leine’s and give them the benefit of the doubt usually, but this run of fruit beers/girly beers they’ve been doing have all been very weak. This one tasted like apples and soap. It smelled very similar, almost as if you were doing the dishes with some apple scented dish soap. It always gave me a bit of a stomache ache too, not my thing. I am glad they’ve replaced it with a brown ale. Hbuck72 (123), Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Oct 20, 2008 kind of a disapointment, when you open the bottle the smell of apples hits you, the color is nice. However, the taste just does not meet expectations. kind of tastes like apple juice and beer mixed together. lumpsowers (252), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 16, 2008 I don’t think this is retired, or perhaps it has been brought back, I bought it at my local store in the new arrivals section. Nice thick foamy head, the strong apple pie/cinnamon aroma is really the best thing about this beer. A little too sickly sweet for my tastes, somewhat artificial on the apple flavoring. Tastes almost like a cider or even a white wine. Soonah (925), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 4, 2008 The pour was a slightly cloudy pale yellow, almost hefeweizen like in its appearance. A definite blast of apple cider is the first aroma that hits you. Also sweaty socks. Very light malt and spice as it opened up. Super sweet flavor. The apple leads the way with some lighter spices managing to cut down the sweetness. Tart and acidic at times. The mouthfeel was thin. phishpond417 (1935), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Jun 17, 2008 A sub-par brew from Leinies. Clear golden colour with no head and a very sweet apple cider aroma. Soft spice and sweet juice like flavors. pretty dissapointing. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2008 Bottle. Body-looks like a pale lager-gold and foamy. Nose-smells like apple cinnamon carpet freshener/potpourri, a great smell for a pie or carpet, but odd for a beer. Taste-apple, cinnamon, medium sweet, tastes like a delicious candy or pie. I will rate I from a straight “how does this substance taste” kind of approach, not as a beer. It is quite delicious. This is what you would get if light beer, apple pie, and potpourri fucked and had a baby.
