2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a cola-colored red-brown with a high, fine-grained, light tan head. Very mild nose has maple, roast pecan, and cola notes, but is marred by a slight oxidized element. There is smoke, molasses, maple, pecan, and iced tea on the tongue, but it’s very light; this is a doppelbock in name only, with none of the substantial weight that German doppelbocks have. Finish is long and brown-sugar sweet. Mediocre.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Looks and smells somewhat proper. Very light body, somewhat sweet, way short on maltiness. Tastes like a cheap adjunct beer. Boo linenkugels.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark Amber brew with small head that fades fast. Smells of toasted malts and something like a bag full of pennies. Tastes is a bit watery with a sort of root beer mixed with a lager thing. It’s OK but nothing I plan to purchase again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Malty and sweet aroma which almost reminds me of a red wine for something like that. Deep ruby body with mild head that skims the top. Rich malt taste with a hints of caramel and nut. Feels rich and refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear deep dark nutty mahogany with a thin white ring of foam. Nice fruity and toasty nose with just a hint of fruity and malty bubblegum. Nice calm and smooth flavor with lots of smooth toffee and toast, a light citric and tree fruitiness, and a calm nutty toast flavor. Pretty nice.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep amber brown color with a good head which retains well. Aroma is malt, bread, sweet caramel, earthy, and mild hop spiciness. Taste is nutty, malt, bread, caramel, mild spice, mild hop, finishes with a very smooth and pleasant nuttiness that coats the tongue. Overall a pretty good beer, saw a lot of complaints about oversweetness, most of those must just not like the style, this is a solid doppelbock, especially for the price. Only thing missing is maybe 1-2% more ABV and also a dry or raisin note that I love in others of the style.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is sweet with maltiness apparent. Has a very thick, frothy head. Very smooth almost like a Guinness but sweeter and comes off the palate quicker. I'm not crazy about it, but it's not too bad. I would consider it if I were really in the mood for a Guinness-like beer.
