COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Leinenkugel’s is pleased to bring back Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock into its limited-release portfolio. The name "Big Butt" comes from the image of two goats butting heads that you see on the label. Bock means billy goat in German and Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock’s name and label pokes fun at the goat’s springtime mating ritual. The result is a malty, rich, full-bodied bock beer brewed with two-and six-row pale and specialty malts and two specialty hops. Like all Leinie’s beers, Big Butt Doppelbock is handcrafted one batch at a time in our historic Chippewa Falls brewery.

One day I’ll just stop. A sad excuse for a great classic style. Thin and spritzer like with little depth to the sweet bready nose and flavor.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6484) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 29, 2016
Sampled on draft at Gateway Grill this beer poured a dark brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with caramel and a bit of golden fruit. The flavor was toasty with honey, caramel and some golden fruit. Medium length finish. Medium body and fairly smooth.

Bottle. Under a tall brown head that quickly diminishes is a reddish brown body. Smooth and slightly slick and oily. Full, a slightly caramelish, a tad vanilla sweet and slightly floral. Satisfying.

Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby with very little head. Not much nose. A little caramel. Taste is watery. Caramel and toffee. Lots of carbonation. Strange chemical aftertaste.

Best before May 5th. From their variety pack. Pours a dark brown. .with reddish hues. Small off white head of foam. Smells of caramel malt, hints of chocolate and molasses. Tastes sweetish from the caramel, bits of grain, molasses and chocolate lightly done. I sense a peculiar fruity note that I got in the smell as I rechecked. Body is good. Pretty enjoyable beer this is.

Bottle. Full of malty sweetness, but no real depth. Some hops profile, but not in balance. This Doppelbock is an easy drinker, but it isn’t something to search out.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- The beer pours a dark brown-mahogany color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a lighter level of retention fading rather fast to leave a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is lighter overall and consists mainly of a caramel and molasses aroma. Along with these smells are some light bready smells as well as a hint of darker fruits of raisin and plum. Taste – The taste begins with a malty taste that is mainly of a toasted bready taste. Along with this flavor are some sweeter tastes of caramel, molasses, and a light dark fruit taste. As the taste advances the malt fades a little bit with a bit more molasses and dark fruit, as well as a little bit of hay coming to the tongue. These tastes take the taste to the end to leave one with a moderately dark, sweet, and malty taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thinner side for a doppelbock with a carbonation level that is medium. For the lower abv. of only 5.7 % the feel was decently appropriate, although for the style a thinner carbonation and thicker body would have accentuated the malt and sweet more nicely. Overall – A decent brew overall. It has a malty and sweet taste of a doppel all while not being as potent as most. Still it lacked some depth of flavor and feel that a bigger doppel may contain (if done right). Not bad, but nothing superb either.
