COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Leinenkugel’s is pleased to bring back Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock into its limited-release portfolio. The name "Big Butt" comes from the image of two goats butting heads that you see on the label. Bock means billy goat in German and Leinenkugel’s Big Butt Doppelbock’s name and label pokes fun at the goat’s springtime mating ritual. The result is a malty, rich, full-bodied bock beer brewed with two-and six-row pale and specialty malts and two specialty hops. Like all Leinie’s beers, Big Butt Doppelbock is handcrafted one batch at a time in our historic Chippewa Falls brewery.

very malty, caramel, full-bodied, can taste the hops but well hidden by the malts. I don’t know what to really say about this one. It’s decent, nothing crazy.

Attractive ruby amber with a small tan head. Malty, light bread and caramel aroma. Flavor is very toasty and bread crusty. Earthy. Minimal bitterness. Pretty dry. Light body. Its hardly there. Too plain.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings (Toms River). Pours a clear dark brown color with a small foamy beige head. Aroma of light roasted malt, caramel, and chocolate. Taste mimics the nose, with some hints of sour lemon.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass, Aroma- Has a a very nice malt and fruit aroma. Appearance- A dark brown color with a small tan colored head. Taste- Has a nice malt flavor with a fruit flavor tossed in also. Palate- A medium bodied brew with moderate carbonation, has an oily texture that blends well with the flavor. Overall- A pretty good doppelbock from Leinenkugel. Thee are better but this is a nice version.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/6/2015. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, molasses, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, molasses, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, molasses, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good complexity, balance, and solid robustness of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid doppelbock style. All around good complexity, balance, and solid robustness of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. The mouthfeel and robustness of malt flavors were lacking, but the taste was generally what I expected in the style. A nicely enjoyable offering.

355ml twist off. Calling this a doppelbock is a stretch. Brown pour. Aroma is malty and biscuity. Flavor is a bit spicy, sweet and malty, reminds me of an Amero-bock.
