COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Looks thick and awesome. Tastes heavy and malty with nutty notes. A good beer for a cold night.

Bottle. Aroma has big notes of caramel, toffee, cocoa, dark bread malts and porto. Great nose!!! Very dark brown that sits black in the glass. Large frothy off-white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is very sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied and watery soft. Overall an amazing beer I can’t get enough of. I have know idea why the rating for this are so low. It drank good to me.

Bottle. Pours dark with no head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor matches that. Very nice, thick and full-bodied. Not my favorite Big Eddy, but a solid beer.

Dark brown almost black color with very minimal lacing. There is a robust chocolate coffee nose. Palate is full bodied with a licorice overtone with a coffee bean backing. Smooth overall with a roasted coffee finish that last for a while. Good beer to warm you up on those cold nights...licorice is present.

Caramally, ligh smoke. An interesting take on the style, non-traditional. But it is decent.

Malty, toffee, dried fruit aroma. Pours dark auburn with slowly fading tan head leaving light lacing. Very smooth caramel flavor with a woody slightly bitter finish.

This needs to age. First one tasted too sweet and under attenuated. Not very good, just too much going on with the dark fruit.

12 ounce bottle - $3.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Vintage 2012.

Appearance: Pours a clear, very dark brown body with a smallish, light mocha-toned head.

Smell: Dark malts with notes of cheap cherry cola, nuts, and other stuff. I say "other stuff" because it doesn’t matter as it all yields to displeasing notes of soy and less-than-clean loose change.

Taste: Dark maltiness replete with store-brand cola, roasted nuts. Slight touch of rum raisin. Also, some coffee and licorice. Some metallic hints within, too. Maybe even a modest whisper of soy sauce. Eventually the other flavors fade away leaving the soy and metallic accents until the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Well, let’s just say I preferred the other members of the Big Eddy crew. By margin wide enough to chuck some dirty nickles and a bottle of Kikkoman’s through.

Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. Pours reddish brown with a bit of a off-tan head. No real lacing, although when worked hard, there is some. Aroma has licorice, molasses and faint chocolate. A sweeter aroma than that would seem. Taste is of milk chocolate, licorice, some caramel malt and some presence of raisins. Finishes moderately quickly; sweet and slightly sour. Not a ton going on here. More that they could not decide what they wanted to do. Drinkable, and not bad, but just not really good either.
