3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Woodmans in the Falls. Pours reddish brown with a bit of a off-tan head. No real lacing, although when worked hard, there is some. Aroma has licorice, molasses and faint chocolate. A sweeter aroma than that would seem. Taste is of milk chocolate, licorice, some caramel malt and some presence of raisins. Finishes moderately quickly; sweet and slightly sour. Not a ton going on here. More that they could not decide what they wanted to do. Drinkable, and not bad, but just not really good either.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Vintage 2012, 12oz bottle. Very dark brown pour, thin ring tan head. Aroma of molasses, sweet toasted malt syrup, dark fruit puree, and chocolate malt. Tastes like a burnt Belgian Dubbel. Chocolate malt, dark fruit, wood tannin bitterness. A bite of a boozy finish in the roasted flavors left behind. (3486)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into s shaker. Pours a dark amber with a ruby hue and about a half finger of khaki head. Aroma is malt dominated. Chocolate, toffee and molases with some black liquorish and a hint of soy sauce. Taste is light bitter and light tart. The 8.5%abv is very noticeable at first but diminishes quickly through the finish. It starts with a mix of tart and dark fermented fruits, moves into molasses and toffee and ends with a long bakers chocolate aftertaste. Full bodied with a thick and creamy, yet slightly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. Not the best in the big eddy series but very drinkable. Aging this for a few years or pairing it with cheese or chocolate may help to mellow it out some and take a bit of the edge off.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
When I first tried this brew, I would not have rated it as well. But I had it with cheese. This pairing brought out rich nutty and chocolate notes. It is one of best beers I have paired with cheese.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pour.....Baltic Brown Ale? Man, light coppery brown pour. Super viscous, sits dark raisin brown in the glass. Thin shitty head. Totally smells like a homebrew, soy sauce-ish and flat. Some chocolate and raisiny notes. Very boring and borderline offensive. Bitter burnt sugar and full syrupy body. Dis-aster.
