COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

Lots of chocolate in the nose and over all not too bad, but nothing special. A nice choice if you’re looking for a darker beer on a hotter day.

Pours deep brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is slightly fruity and metallic. Flavor is roasty with dark fruit...faint licorice and metallic note. Mouthfeel is medium and lively with a roasty/fruity slightly metallic finish.

Bottle. Dark amber going in that looks like a much darker brown when poured into the glass in my poorly lit living room. No head, carbonation is low. Nose of black malt, lightly roasted, water, light moonpie, coffee but u have to search a bunch. Flavor is a messy collab of molasses, black patent malt, metal, finishing roasty, bloody, and slightly rubbery. Very dry and strange.

12oz bottle from Discount Liquor. Pours a dark brown color with an off white head. Aroma is chocolate, roasty, coffee. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, Malty, cereal, coffee, roasty, some dark fruit, with a light, malty finish. Not bad, but nothing special.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours brown with a red hue in the light with a thin tan head, looks pretty thin, kind of like a coke or something, I was hoping it would be a little thicker, aroma is of slight chocolate and malt, not a ton really jumps out. The flavor has some roasted malt on the front end but is a little sweeter than I was expecting, some chocolate in the finish but seems a little weak. Not terrible, just not up to the Big Eddy standards I was hoping for.

Bottled. Poured light-medium brown with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up near-burnt black malt and vanilla, with not a whole lot else going on. The flavor was very much on the sweet side, with near-burnt black malts and lesser chocolate.. sour roast and dry, earthy hops around.. finished with warm roast and a bit more malty sourness. Medium-bodied and too sweet for my liking on the palate.. just an OK feel.. thin for the style.. I didn’t like it very much, but will drink another.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, small ring of carbonation and an aroma of a light cocoa. Flavor is a little caramel, more chocolate, some dark cherry and slightly vegetal and thin on the finish. Was hoping for a richer/thicker body, but still not too bad.

Mahogony colored pour small tan head w/ very little lacing. Aroma is a bit metalic some black malt and a lot of lactose like sugar. Almost over carbonated palate after that it’s pretty thin. Flavor is very light touches of iron and black malt and not much else. Very disappointing.

On tap at GTMW - Pours mahogany with a tan had. Nose is great--metallic and sweet, with milky malt. Taste is sweet dark malt, like a Black IPA without the hops. Milky and sweet finish. Thick and well-carbonated. I love the Big Eddy series, but this one missed the mark.
