Big Eddy Baltic Porter is a blanket of malt flavor. Notes of toffee, cocoa, caramel, toasted bread and sherry fruit flavors are interwoven to produce a symphony of splendor. Our Baltic Porter is an homage to the brewers of the Baltics and a tribute to our own historic brewing waters, the Big Eddy Spring.

Pours a deep dark mahogany with a small caramel colored head. Aroma is malt with a hint of chocolate. Very creamy with thick viscosity on the palate. The taste is chock full of malt, chocolate, coffee with a hint of sweet molasses. Not hoppy. This is a quality beer full of flavor that can be enjoyed alone or paired with nuts and/or cheeses.

This pours a dark brown color with a slight light brown head. The aroma gives it that scent like itís been aged in a sherry barrel with a mild fruitiness of plums. The texture is smooth and creamy. There are lots of complex roasted and smoky flavors. Finishes ever so crisp. Not too bad but thereís also room for improvement.

Pours a dark brown with small head. Aroma of raisin, plum, and sherry. Flavors include some toffee, caramel, fruit (aforementioned raisin), some chocolate and licorice. Nice, warming beer; a good winter choice.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Dark brown with little white head. Aroma of raisins, roasted malts and caramel. Taste of malts nice bitterness (just enough) well balanced with hints of chocolate and caramel. It starts quite sweet but it gets this nice bitterness towards the end which makes it very drinkable and enjoyable. Very decent.

Very heavy and fruity. The best way I can describe it is... itís like drinking raisin beer.

Dark brown color, close to black. Aroma of dark caramel and animal, light phenol. Dark caramel flavor, some oxidization, cabbage, light malt sourness; correct bitterness; roasted nuts in the end.
Odd, indeed.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with sweet chocolate and a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with sweet dark grains and chocolate and is joined by roasted malts in the finish.

2012 bottle to snifter. First observation is that this is a lot lighter than I was expecting. Itís brown with a garnet hue. Short lived head fades to a thin collar around the glass. Lightly carbonated with slow moving bubbles ascending to the top of the brew. Sugar cane and light molasses aroma. Quite sweet and nice. Taste starts off sweet like the aroma but then balances out with a touch if bitter roast and finishes with a sugared black coffee flavor. Somewhat slippery in the mouth. Not as dark or as much licorice flavor as I was expecting but I like the coffee roast sweetness. Tasty.
