3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 Beerenberger (787) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2013Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, and molasses. A dark bown pour with rubby highlights, no head or lacing. The taste is very malt forward. Roasted malts, a touch of bitter coffee, and a molasses finish. A grainy aftertaste remains. Medium to med-light body with medium carbonation. Overall, a nice robust roasty flavor up frontwhich disappointingly gives way to sweet molasses finish. I also wish it had a little more body.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5406) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAY 8, 2013
12 oz bottle and served in snifter: Pours a deep brown with reddish highlights topped by a fading tan head and spartan lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, roast, nuts, prune, figs, tobacco and other earthy yeast esters. The taste is dark fruits and earthy malts, not sweet but still very malty and earthy. The mouthfeel is smooth and oily, would have like a tad more sticky notes here. Solid brew but not quite up to the standards of the best Baltic’s on the market.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a muddy brown color with a small white head. A sweet nose of caramel and figs. A rich flavor of tobacco, figs, burnt caramel, strawberries. Pretty nice. A bit of smoke. Interesting.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jb (1809) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Appearance is clear and reddish brown. Nose is bread, brown sugar, and a bit of fruit. Similar to a doppel nose, good for me. Creamy mouthfeel, sugary sweet start, dips into a bit of sour, and chocolate malt, caramel, and chocolate tastes. Very interesting. Not true to style but very interesting brew.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tgncc (2287) - Bellmore, New York, USA - APR 10, 2013
From AC Beer Fest 2013. The aroma is fruit, bread, brown sugar. The appearance is deep brown, light tan head. The flavor is sweet, fruit, caramel, bread. The finish is light pine hops. Medium/thick in body. Very nice. I don’t know why this has so many mediocre ratings.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7031) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2013
A decent Baltic porter. Balanced, I would like a bit more bitterness edge but still a good drinkable porter. Dark coloured, fizzy disappearing head. Middling mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate.
An extra in a trade, I think Beerenberger.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hophead22 (2742) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAR 30, 2013
12oz bottle. Rating #95. Pretty damn good beer, nice meld of flavors. It wasn’t quite as thick as I would of personally liked, but a quality effort. (2617)
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 TH28 (20) - - MAR 23, 2013
UPDATED: APR 12, 2013 Appearance is deep brown with a nice tan foam cap. Licorice and raisin are dominant on the aroma, with a bit of molasses and brown sugar. Taste starts with a sweet deep caramel malt, with hints of chocolate, molasses and brown sugar on the back end. Body is medium to light for some porters. Finishes with the slightest hint of chocolate, and some warmth from the alcohol.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 jebert (404) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 21, 2013
Pours a deep dark mahogany with a small caramel colored head. Aroma is malt with a hint of chocolate. Very creamy with thick viscosity on the palate. The taste is chock full of malt, chocolate, coffee with a hint of sweet molasses. Not hoppy. This is a quality beer full of flavor that can be enjoyed alone or paired with nuts and/or cheeses.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lemke10 (539) - Janesville, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 17, 2013
This pours a dark brown color with a slight light brown head. The aroma gives it that scent like it’s been aged in a sherry barrel with a mild fruitiness of plums. The texture is smooth and creamy. There are lots of complex roasted and smoky flavors. Finishes ever so crisp. Not too bad but there’s also room for improvement.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bookman10 (472) - Osseo, Minnesota, USA - MAR 6, 2013
Pours a dark brown with small head. Aroma of raisin, plum, and sherry. Flavors include some toffee, caramel, fruit (aforementioned raisin), some chocolate and licorice. Nice, warming beer; a good winter choice.
