2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours deep brown, and a lovely shade of deep ruby through direct light, with half a finger of fast-disspiating khaki head. Nose is charred black patent malt, cacao, blackstrap molasses. Tastes rich, dry, very charred, with the dark malt, soy saucy cloying flavor, dry hops late, and a medium palate heft. This one is a miss.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Caramally, ligh smoke. An interesting take on the style, non-traditional. But it is decent.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Poured light-medium brown with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up near-burnt black malt and vanilla, with not a whole lot else going on. The flavor was very much on the sweet side, with near-burnt black malts and lesser chocolate.. sour roast and dry, earthy hops around.. finished with warm roast and a bit more malty sourness. Medium-bodied and too sweet for my liking on the palate.. just an OK feel.. thin for the style.. I didn’t like it very much, but will drink another.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with sweet chocolate and a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with sweet dark grains and chocolate and is joined by roasted malts in the finish.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle, 2012 edition. This was nice at first, but got really hard to drink as I carried on. Clear dark reddish color. Minimal off-white head. Plum, raisin nose. Dark fruit, light spice, light chocolate aroma. Medium / bigger body. Light carbonation. Kind of creamy. Pretty sweet-tasting. An alcohol taste reveals itself as this warms up, that does’t work well with the brew. I liked the others in the Big Eddy series. This was a disappointment for me

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours a deep fig brown with a small tan head. Aroma of metal, dark fruits, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Flavor of dates, chocolate, dry toast, and earth. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, earthy mouthfeel. Decent but I normally like this style better.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, hints of roast, touch of earth, hints of dark fruit and red wine, some slight roast. Taste is a mix of sweet dark fruits, some roast, touch of cocoa powder, hints of a wine like note, some sweet caramel, toffee, finishing sweet. It isn’t terrible, but it is pretty sweet.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Deepest of browns, moderate foamy beige head, spotty lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, slight
soy, a bit of dark pitted fruit, prunes and raisins.   Slight lactose and chocolate notes as well.   Right up front
its a bit of a slight sour/tart dark pitted fruit.   Moderate sweetness, fig, dates, and prunes.   Towards the end
it has a fairly moderate roastiness and apple skin, almost like many imperial stouts.   I am surprised to see this one
rated so low.   While not world class, its pretty solid.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Lingering
soy infused dark pitted fruits.   Perhaps not as big or rich as others, but thats okay.   Its fairly warm in
Seattle now, so this is an easy Baltic Porter on a hot day.   This one is fairly good.
