2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 ounce bottle into a brandy snifter thanks to weihenweizen. Pours a darker brown. No sign of head or carbonation. Aroma is roasty with notes of milk chocolate. Taste is super sweet, nearing acrid sugary sweetness. A little roastyness comes back into play in the finish, but its not enough to save this beer. It’s bad.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is an okay baltic porter. Its very rich, but a bit unbalanced in its roastiness. Tastes almost burnt.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
14 nov 2012, tap. Black. Nose is cocoa, alcohol, burnt toast. Med body and moderately fizzy. Becomes a huge beer once you taste it! Lots of alcohol, bitter dark chocolate, faint raisins, toasted grain, bitter finish. Pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep fig brown with a small tan head. Aroma of metal, dark fruits, chocolate, and toasted nuts. Flavor of dates, chocolate, dry toast, and earth. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, earthy mouthfeel. Decent but I normally like this style better. Thanks for the trade JB.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet malt scents and taste with a bit of malt. Taste is way too sweet, it masks the other flavors.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into s shaker. Pours a dark amber with a ruby hue and about a half finger of khaki head. Aroma is malt dominated. Chocolate, toffee and molases with some black liquorish and a hint of soy sauce. Taste is light bitter and light tart. The 8.5%abv is very noticeable at first but diminishes quickly through the finish. It starts with a mix of tart and dark fermented fruits, moves into molasses and toffee and ends with a long bakers chocolate aftertaste. Full bodied with a thick and creamy, yet slightly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. Not the best in the big eddy series but very drinkable. Aging this for a few years or pairing it with cheese or chocolate may help to mellow it out some and take a bit of the edge off.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours brown with a red hue in the light with a thin tan head, looks pretty thin, kind of like a coke or something, I was hoping it would be a little thicker, aroma is of slight chocolate and malt, not a ton really jumps out. The flavor has some roasted malt on the front end but is a little sweeter than I was expecting, some chocolate in the finish but seems a little weak. Not terrible, just not up to the Big Eddy standards I was hoping for.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance is clear and reddish brown. Nose is bread, brown sugar, and a bit of fruit. Similar to a doppel nose, good for me. Creamy mouthfeel, sugary sweet start, dips into a bit of sour, and chocolate malt, caramel, and chocolate tastes. Very interesting. Not true to style but very interesting brew.

It poured a dark mohogany/red color with a light tan head. The aroma was of roasted malt and some licorice. The taste was sweet, roasted malt, with some dark fruit and slightly chalky. Average.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 9/5/2013. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, molasses, raisin, prune, nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of dark malt notes with moderate fruitiness; and good strength. Taste of caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, raisin, prune, light roast, nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, molasses, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, dark fruit, nuttiness, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Baltic porter. All around nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors with moderate fruitiness; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
