4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was sweet pine, caramel and pineapple. The flavor was sweet caramel, nut, pine, pineapple, orange, pepper and a hint of floral hops. Long sweet caramel, pine and pineapple finish. Moderately full bodied. Well done.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap. Pour is deep clear copper with a thin white head. Aroma is very bold with lots caramel malt and assertive pine and resinous hop. Flavor is quite sweet with loads of roasted malt and resinous hop notes that try to take over in the finish. But the malt dominates. Big time malt in this. Very heavy. Not my favorite.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark clear amber with a beige head. Decent lace. Aroma of caramel, toffee, melon, bread, and raisin. Taste is really sweet and fruity with a really mild bitterness. Fairly full bodied, sticky, and smooth. Decent.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle] Pours reddish amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is weak, but pleasant, with lemon zest and kiwi. Taste is not what I expected, with somewhat restrained bitterness and very rounded hops. That having been said, the alcohol is very well masked, there are no obvious flaws, and it is really easy to drink (particularly for this abv). Light citrusy backdrop with malt balanced beautifully. If I was rating to style, this would not be scoring very highly, but in terms of enjoyability, I really like it. Mouthfeel is great--not too thin, but not a hop syrup as so many IIPAs end up as these days. Extremely smooth. Overall, really different, dangerously drinkable, and great mouthfeel. Not something I would buy regularly at this price point, but glad to have tried one bottle nonetheless.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled 2012 vintage. Poured clean amber color, thin white head left decent lacing on glass. Great floral aroma, good upfront hop flavor, a little too dry/ bitter on the back end. Enjoyed the smell better than the taste, all in all a good addition to the Big Eddy line.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
2012 vintage, bottle. Pours a clear orange, flat head, lively bubbles. This IIPA is a hot mess. The aroma smells pungent as if it is skunked. The flavor is a wreck, very unbalanced with the malts and hops. Pine and citrus are somewhat detectable. In addition, the ABV is very noticeable, almost burns going down. Slight hop finish and smooth texture. I wanted to like this one, but it’s just up to my standards for a DIPA.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle @ Old Chicago Foco. Clear, dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Spicy, bitter, piney hoppy, light skunk, kind of unpleasant aroma. Thick, sweet, toasty malty, mild grapefruity, citrus fruity, piney, marijuana, piney, strong flavor. I’m not a fan.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A clear, deep amber pour with an off-white head. The aroma is packed full of citrus and floral hops. It has a medium body with an oily texture and lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter as far as DIPAs go. There is some alcohol warmth but isn’t overbearing.

Nice Imperial IPA, a little on the sweet side for me but interesting enough to hold my attention. I don’ t think I would want more that one or two in a single sitting and the 9.0% ABV makes that a good idea too.

12oz courtesy of GhostFace. Cheers, Neal! Pours a clear copper orange with a white head. Nose is malt, grass, caramel, pine and mild citrus. Flavor is malt, grass, pine, and lingering citrus with notes of apricot lingering in the finish. Medium in body and interesting overall.
