3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at GTMW. Poured black with just a little spotty dark brown head. The aroma picked up rich black malts and lesser chocolate, with very nice tart oak, bourbon, and sour cherry skins around.. somehow soft and definitely enticing. The flavor found deep, roasted black malts and some licorice at the core.. sour cherries, bourbon, and oak around.. tangy, tasty finish. Heavy-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. syrupy.. tangy from the barrel.. good stuff, but not as good as the BA, non-cherry version.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at GTMW, pours black with a nice brown head, the aroma is of heavy chocolate with a slight sourness of the cherries, the flavor has a good amount of cherry with a little bit of bourbon in the finish, the mouthfeel was a little light but not terrible, not bad but I really enjoy the regular version a lot more.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
8/11/12. GTMW - thanks to MrPickles, I believe, who let me drink off of his. I have to disagree somewhat with my compatriots on this one - but hey, different strokes for different folks. Black pour with a small tan head. Nice roast and a bit of chocolate in the aroma with a definite bourbon aspect and a touch of cherry. Light cherry, roast, and chocolate in the flavor with, as mentioned, a big tart cherry kick. Unlike my fellows, however, I found this very much welcomed - much like I thoroughly enjoyed the Dark Horse Death Star Lover. Tasty!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at GTMW - Pours black with a brown ring of head. Nose is light bourbon,m molasses, and brown sugar. No sign of the cherries at all. Taste is vanilla and, finally, the cherries, with brown sugar and molasses. Real sweet, and not pungent fruitiness, this is one big cloying mess. Medium-bodied, and with little carbonation. Meh.

Pouring at GTMW 2012
another beer I really couldn’t wait to try because of the quality of the base and unfortunately another let down.
Jet black pour with some whispy borwn head. Roast malt aroma light bourbon and a touch of smoke along w/ some sour cherries that are a touch to sour for the beer. Full well caoted lightly creamy palate. Flavor is overly dominated by sour cherry skins and leaves a lingering sour in the mouth distracting from what was a great beer. I didn’t enjoy this one at all.
