Bottle at 2014 Capitol Beer Fest. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is smooth, strong bourbon and alcohol. Med + body. It’s malty and astringent. A little coffee. A little treacle. Very, very nice.

Strong bourbon flavor and high alcohol content. Pours a dark brown and tastes nicely bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Milwaukee Brewfest, and I drank a lot of it! Poured inky black with not much head.. great color and viscosity. The aroma picked up tangy bourbon and oak over rich, toasted chocolates, coffee, and tobacco.. lots of malty depth.. decadent! The flavor found warm, lightly-smoked chocolates, vanilla, and molasses at the core, with tangy oak and bourbon around.. mostly chocolate and vanilla with a kiss of bourbon on the LONG, belly-warming finish. Heavy-bodied and coating on the palate.. lower carbonation.. everything worked great in there!

Bottle pour. Dark brown pour, no carbonation and an nice bourbon and vanilla on the nose. Flavor is sweet buttery bourbon, vanilla and plenty of peat and some chocolate on the finish. Very good, like this just a little more than the rye version.
