COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

On tap at the Twisted Kilt in Myrtle Beach, SC, this pours pitch black with a nice choco-tan head that retains decently, leaving soapy lacing down the glass. The nose is of roasted grain and chocolate. Flavors have lots of toasted grains, chocolate malt, some toffee/caramel, and a nice buttering hop to balance the finish. Silky smooth with soft carbonation, it provides a full-bodied, velvety quaff. Best of this brewery I've had by a country mile. Nice job.

I only had a sample at a beer festival a week ago. It was a great surprise because I didn’t know Leinenkugel made stouts. I will have to add to my review when I have a chance to drink one from top to bottom.

On tap in a big Eddy snifter. Dark oil slick black with thin tan head. Coffee smell. Strong coffee flavor with dry hop flavor in the background.

Sample at Hopfest 2014. Comes black with a decent tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, coffee, and fruit. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, and alcohol. Very good, but not outstanding.

A pretty fun, big black’un. Such a dark brown, almost purple, with a huge tawny bonnet. Beautiful, really. Smell is a bit boozy, but in the whiskey, warming way, not astringent. Also lots of dark fruitcake, raisins, smoke, cocoa, a bit of coffee and leather. Tasted the same to me and had a nice boozy, vanilla latte and fruitcake finish. Somewhat syrupy texture but really quite a nice RIS.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks DSG. Black with tan head. A little ink, sweet cherry liquor, dark fruit aroma, sweet, chocolate, a little alcoholic taste. Smooth, non-carbonated, full-bodied finish and a little burnt.

Malty aroma with notes of caramel, bread and chocolate Very Dark with impressive head that diminishes with first sip Medium bitters with a burnt salty punch Full body thick flavor with average carbonation with a bit of an astringent finish A very hearty beer I would think best with a meal with strong flavors

Pours very dark with very little head. Aroma of malts and dark fruits. Taste is complex and rich, of licorice and dark coffee. Well blended and drinkable, thumbs up on this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
