COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Suprisingly full bodied stout from lienies, carmel chocolate aftertaste in a lighter stout.

Appearance is black with some slight deep mahogany tint. Pours a nice tan/brown creamy head even after aging for a year. Aroma is raisin, plum, licorice, and cocoa. Also pick up slight smokiness in the nose. Taste starts with raisin and deep roasted chocolate with a slight hint of coffee mon the back end. Despite the deep, rich malt the hop bitterness balances out the flavor nicely. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, medium bodied for an imperial stout. Finishes with a nice hop bitterness balance and warming from the alcohol. Overall, a great imperial stout.

Bottle. Deep, dark, reddish black. Thin head. Aroma is of dark fruit, caramel, syrup. Nice drink -- smooth and even, a little burn, but not much. Definitely even keeled, all told. Rich roast carries in the background. Decent. (#4983, 4/13/2013)

2011 sitting my basement for a couple years. From the pour you can tell this is a big, heavy beer. Very dark, very thick, very little head. Roasted malt in the nose. Still some hop character, complex, roasted notes, smoke notes and some sweetness to it as well. Some underlying soy sauce in here too, which I don’t remember when the beer was fresh. Very nice beer, would love to try a barrel aged version.

Pours a very very dark brown/black. Immediate aromas contain hints of Plums, Vanilla, Lots of Coffee, Dark/milk chocolates, all wrapped in oak essences. Tastes are paralell; with an immediate rush of Coffee and Vanilla in the first tastes, followed by hints of plum, pear, and after substantial drinking additional notes of complex fruits as well as mocha/chocolate flavors loiter on the palate. Alcohol is very subtle from beginning to end. In conclusion, definitely worth purchasing.

On tap at Ridgewood Raleigh. Powerful coffee flavor. One of the darkest beers I've seen. Good taste. Would gladly order again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very attractive dark molasses in color with a frothy foamy good laced head. Big attractive aromas of burnt/roasted malts, molasses, wood, spicy hops almost hidden behind malts, brownie, light smoke, and caramel. Big delicious flavors of roasted malts, light molasses, light wood, caramel, light smoke, slight hint of alcohol, and a slight fruity note. Medium sweetness, oily texture, a little on the cloying side with the sweetness (take slow paused sips), leaves a light to medium burnt aftertaste, complex. Yeah this is a great Imp Stout but there is a cloying of the sweetness and the bitterness for me. That just means I’ll have to take my time enjoying the complexities, as any Imp Stout should be enjoyed.

355mL 2012. Deeper black pour. Medium to weaker dark coffee foam. Spot of lacing. Nose at first is sharp lemon detergent, moving to green olive, soy, salt, odd funky green vegetables. Taste is rich, dense, dar chocolate, spicy. Denser palate with a long, bitter chocolate finish. Pretty solid in the taste and palate department. Nose and head retention could use some work.
