COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugelís tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2008 Oily wet pout, dark black, with a nice brown head. VERY fruity smell for a stout! Sweet wheat scent also noted. Almost a juice inital taste, plum, berries or figs as others have noted. Raisens also, all the fruity flavors out shine the basic stouts roasty, coffee, or milky chocolate tastes. Creamy berry aftertaste with a touch of roastiness. This is a unique Imperial Stout in my short experiance. Different, but great, stands out, but in a good way!

Bottle shared by Black95tt. Poured a very nice dark black with a toasty brown head. Lots of dark fruits, figs, plums, and caramelized brown sugar in the aroma. Lots of chocolate malts and oat malt in the flavor profile. Very smooth and easy drinking. Not a bit of off flavors in this beer...very well brewed! And the alcohol is not noticeable at all. Good stuff!

Bottle. Dark, almost black but with a ruby tinge to it. Thought I wouldnít get a head at all but a small, creamy, light brown head magically appeared after the pour. Perfumey, sweet, almost fruity aroma with a hint of pine and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet chocolate moving to a nutty, roasted malt bitterness and a piney finish. Full bodied and lighlty carbonated makes for a very smooth brew. Better than I expected from a Leinie.

Very nice Im perial Stout. I enjoyed it from the pour to the finish. Very nice head and refreshing on the palate. High alcohol content did not come through in the flavor. At the price of 7.99 a four at Champanes in Warren, MI, it is very reasonable. Just bought a case so we will see how it ages.

12 oz from BBB63! Nose of chocolate, light vanilla, and a little ripe banana; Balck as a moonless night with a fairly big cinnamon head; flavor has bannanas, hop bitterness, followed ny chocolate, and more hop bitterness. A Hefe Impy Stout!. I love bananas so this is a banana split with alcohol!

(bottle, thanks Skyview) Iíve had this a few times but only small samples, so now that Iíve got a full glass, I decided to rate it. Pours a deep dark black with some ruby around the edges and only a whisp of a tan head that fades away completely. The smell was somewhat odd at first, (I think the alcohol was too much) but that dissipated to a decent smell of port, chocolate, molasses, and light roasted malt. The taste was a nice initial blast of dark fruit sweetness, followed up by some chocolate, that yielded to a roasted malt finish that lingered on the tongue. This finish lasted forever, and just at the very end a nice hop bitterness makes an appearance. The mouthfeel was full on this one, quite a good brew from Leinieís.

Black as night with a crema-like head, this Imperial Stout is unlike any other! The aroma is dark and toasty, with a flavor to match - mellow, sweet, nutmeg, and fine crema. Undoubtedly, this beer is best suited for a dessert.

12oz bottle. Pours a thick, dark black with a firm mocha-colored head. Aroma is surprisingly dominated by dark fruit, complemented nicely by hints of molasses, chocolate, and vanilla. Taste is full and sweet, with initial flavors of roasted malt, dark fruit, spices, and chocolate giving way to a long, bitter finish of wood, smoke, and molasses thatís somewhere between a whisky and a rum. I really wish more of the dark fruit had come through on the finish, the bite was a little too boozy for me. Even still, if youíve ever doubted Leinenkugel was capable of making a proper brew, this should change your mind.

A viscous pour produces a medium sized choco brown head, good retention and a seriously coating lace. Black, opaque body, no light gettin through this one baby. Nose is roast, berries, chocolate, dust and a hint of licorice and grainy notes as well. Body is almost full, lightly oily and slick on the palate with a pleasent little chalkiness. Plenty of chocolate, dark and bittersweet, roast flavors with a light smokiness, light caramel and dark fruits. Finish is lightly sweet, roasty with some woody notes sneakin around in there. Wow, best Leiny product i,ve ever had! Well done! Props to eaglefan(who for some reason did,nt seem to enjoy this one??) and mj for both hookin a brutha up with this tastey little critter. Thanks fellas!
