The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugelís tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Bottle... a most excellent bonus from Pailhead. Pours absolutely black with a dark brown head and decent lacing. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Taste is very intense! Similar notes as in the aroma with a nice bitterness to balance it out. Creamy mouthfeel. This is a damned good stout.

I am pleased that Prince Murray Swine recommended and sent this. A classic RIS and they nailed the style. Big bold bitter black and a full coffee. Full mouthfeel. Coffee in, chocolate coating but not over on the chocolate as per the new wave.

Bottle: Dark brown with a ton of chocolate malt flavors with a sharp zing to it. Not bad. Thanks BuckeyeBoy!

Bottle: Pours black with a smaller brown head. Nose is roasty and chocolate filled. Wtf, is that banana bread I smell? Viscous and creamy mouthful tastes of roasty malt, chocolate, and bits of espresso. A little bittersweetness. Very nice. Thanks BuckeyeBoy.

pours like 2 day old truck stop coffee, thick and syrupy, with a rootbeer float head. lots of coffee, sweet, mildly hoppy. smooth, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. alcohol flavor is present, but not overpowering.

From bottle : Pours completely black, with a half finger of brown head, that lasts a few minutes then slowly starts fading, leaving decent lacing. Nose of lots of malt, molasses, some coffee, and a little tiny hint of chocolate. Very thick syrup like feel as it enters the mouth, also very chewy. Taste has a lot of molasses in it, with malt, and a milk chocolate finish and aftertaste. Very full bodied with a smooth mellow feel and taste. Very little bitterness present, as well as very little alcohol. Quite good.

12-oz bottle received via trade with tjthresh. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, chocolate, coffee), average hops (perfume), average yeast (leather) with notes of alcohol, prune, smoke, tar, and licorice. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

Pours a beautiful black with full, stiff brown head like the best ISs. Pouring this beer into one of my oldest glasses made me a little nostalgic, remembering when every IS used to taste so good, when I was first familiarizing myself with the likes of Oak Aged Yeti and Dark Lord. This beer strives to be like those, syrupy and viscous, just massive in stature, though to me it doesnít hold up. Itís chewy, caramel chocolate flavor is supreme, but in the finish is some oddness, a bit of astringent coffee, perhaps, or some spent sugars. Aroma is a touch milky. Palate is actually quite nice, considering how fast Iíve polished off this bottle. These beers just donít do for me though what they used to.

#311! Mother nature supreme, step back and dream, the hydroponic scene...12oz bottle, courtesy of Elite_Digger. Pours a thickish black color with a creamy brown head that fades to a ring and leaves some lace. Smells sweet and dark fruity and malty. Some alcohol in the background. Tastes pretty malty, dark fruity sweet as well. Plums and raisins and some super sweet chocolate. Nice full body, thick but not too thick, subdued but good carbonation. This brew is like a tamed version of DL. Good.
