Bottle from Bob in myrtle beach. Pretty good stuff. Not complex enough to be great. Malt dominates. Dark chocolate nose with a bit of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Not a lot of hops but well integrated as this was not too sweet.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; black with tan head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt and chocolate. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer.

Very respectable imperial stout here from the Leinenkugel family. Strong and dark to the core.

Bottle split with JF, thanks to an IP trade with James - Jtclockwork, 09/06/13. Dark black with a big dirty looking tan head. good lacing ensues. Nose is roast malt, sugars, chocolate, dark toffee fudge. Taste comprises dark malt, demerara sugar, molasses, grain, bitter chocolate, dark fruits, raisens, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate. One of the most drinkable impy stouts I’ve encountered, not the most complex but solid enough. The alcohol is well integrated, good stuff!

Bottle. Pitch black pour with a mocha head that disappeared quickly. Dark dried fruit without the sweetness. Coal, soil, dark caramel, and chocolate. Nice carbonation, medium body, relatively smooth, not overwhelming bitterness. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Besides the normal coffee, chocolate, coco smell there is a smell of sweetness to it, almost a sweet caramel smell. Classic dark coffee appearance, taste is raisns, coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Very complex stout, so much so that you can’t taste the 9.5 ABV. Needs more kick, very malty.

very good beer. Full of flavor, full of alcohol. Two of my favorite things..This beer exceeded my expectations. A must try for any stout lover.

Surprised by this one. Very smooth with nice roasted notes. Not quite as much of a fig/plum taste as many imperial stouts, but I don't think that's a bad thing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big Eddy pours clear brown-black, but rests opaque black in the glass. There is a fizzy mocha head that provides a little lacing. Roasted malts, molasses, toffee. dark fruit and raisin fill the nose. The bouquet is strong and lasts well to the last drop! Sweet roasted malts, caramel, coffee, and bitter-sweet chocolate give way to sweet malty toffee finish. Hops take a back seat, only leaving a subtle grassy pine in an abundantly roasted malt-coffee aftertaste. This is a very nice tasting stout, indeed! Soft carbonation accompanies a heavy tongue weight. This beer goes down silky- almost syrupy. It’d be difficult to drink ten of these, but, one is one to savor for sure. Overall, this is a fabulous Russian Imperial. Unlike most brews, Big Eddy boasts a strong nose and rich taste without letting up an iota for the duration of the glass. Anyone that looks for a malt forward, sweet, rich, and impressive stout is sure to appreciate this one! I encourage anyone that happens upon this on tap or in a liquor store to not let this one slip through their fingers! I had this on tap at Bukowski’s in Boston, and wasn’t letting someone else buy it at my favorite liquor store! I even bought a little extra to age. I’ll be back at a later date to review that!

Tap. Inky black pour. Large foamy brown head. Nose is metal, bananas, esters, ash. Flavor is ashy, earth, smoke, teriyaki, soy, chocolate, unsweetened chocolate, coffee. Bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with medium carb.
