COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugelís tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Nice to see a big brewer make such a great beer. Poured a dark, deep blackish brown with good lacing on top. Smells of coffee and burnt malt with bakers chocolate accents. Taste obvious of high alch. content.but balanced against a syrupy sweetness toast malt and roast coffee beans and lite chocolates. Surprised at how noticeable the abv was, could stand to some aging..

Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer. Color is deep black with a thin tan head. Aromas of malt alcohol chocolate and licorice. Taste is very smooth full of deep roasty malts caramel and chocolate.

On tap at Stub & Herb’s in Minneapolis, MN. Dark black pour with little head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Similar flavor, but much fuller. Flavor lingers. Incredibly smooth, malty mouthfeel.

Tasty and robust, with roasted coffee and caramel. This stout is plenty to write home about with a mild carbonation and plenty of hops playing a fine background. This brew only wants a bit better grain balance and slightly smoother mouthfeel, but it doesn't stop Eddy from brig a wonderful addition to the party. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Many thanks to whoever brought this to the Tampa tasting. Standard RIS flavors take the stage here, the chocolate isnít overly bitter. Very well balanced, get some.

I csnít believe this is Leinenkugels. This is a very tasty, true to style. imerial stout. Big sweet aroma, nice think mouthfeel, sweet and chocolaty, roasty, and subtley smoky. Very nice and extremely drinkable. Way to go Leineís thia is probably the best macro-micro attempt to date.

On tap @ Old Chicago, black as sin and a quick dark tan head; aroma of earthy coffee and dark chocolate; lots of coffee up front with a little caramelized malt; little hoppy on the aftertaste; easy going carbonation but a little less body than I would like. Not bad at all but the aftertaste and body keep it from being amazing.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2008 Oily wet pout, dark black, with a nice brown head. VERY fruity smell for a stout! Sweet wheat scent also noted. Almost a juice inital taste, plum, berries or figs as others have noted. Raisens also, all the fruity flavors out shine the basic stouts roasty, coffee, or milky chocolate tastes. Creamy berry aftertaste with a touch of roastiness. This is a unique Imperial Stout in my short experiance. Different, but great, stands out, but in a good way!
