4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pitch black in the glass, with a minimal mahogany aura on the edges. Smells of beef jerky (its a manly, chuck norris kinda beer) maple and mesquite. Oily, boozy, and chocolatey with some red fruit character on the edges. Semi-sweet chocolate aftertaste. Clingy bitey palate.

Many thanks to hoppymeal for throwing in this as a wants list extra. It pours dark black with a thin layer of brown head. Nose is slight soy, tons of dark fruit, bitter chocolate, toffee, and alcohol. Great smelling beer and I could get a whiff from a few feet away. Taste is really similar with a ton of dark fruits, and a bitter roasty finish. Huge viscous mouthfeel. A great RIS, one of my favorites from all of the ones I have tried in the past few months.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013 Poured into a tulip black but not motor oil with a brown sugar color head. Aroma was a hint of coffee dark chocolate and dark fruits such as plums, finishing with alcohol heat. Nothing complex at all. First sip was chocolate at first followed by a bittering bite and finishing with dark fruits and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium overall and thin for a stout with nice medium carbonation. Nothing special, could be special if aged in some barrels for an extra year.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with decent brown head. The nose is tons of chocolate and molasses; some notes of raisins. Comes across the palate sweet and creamy with chocolate, sweet coffee, molasses, raisins, maple syrup, & fresh cane syrup. Damn this is good.

Top notch stout from Leinenkugel’s. Big Eddy isn’t just a clever name; this Imperial is by no means tame and a sharp contrast from the traditional Leine’s lineup. Aroma thick with malt and dark chocolate. Pours black and thick, like motor oil with a surprisingly thin, tan head. Taste is strong chocolate with a hint of smokiness. Very robust. As with most imperials, this gets better and better as it warms up. Thick and full bodied on the palate. Home run for Leinenkugel. Excellent .

Bottle December 2013: aroma of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Tastes like malty chocolate with a lot of forward fruit like currant and golden raisin. Good but I look forward to the one I'm aging.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with brown foam that has limited retention but creates some lacing as the beer goes away. Aroma of caramelized sugar, alcohol, and hints of chocolate, soy, and spice. Maybe dried fruit. Flavor has noticeable hop and resinous alcohol character. Mince meat pie! Body is creamy without too much carbonation. Not flat, not astringent. Overall a very fine offering--boozy and hard-hitting but complex and balanced all at once.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark chocolate hue with tan head. Aroma very citrus like with a hint of more citrus. Taste has a nice blend of citrus and that familiar stout rush. Root beer for beer lovers, as it has a rootbear finish

My first Big Eddy imperial stout and it doesn't disappoint. On the nose it hits you with a but of oakiness, charred characteristics, and a little bit of caramel. On the palate it has hints of bourbon on tip of its noticeable caramel and bits of chocolate taste. Overall very good.
