COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Pretty thick pour. It is a bit over the top in sweetness. Sweet chocolate, with only hint of hops, I taste prunes and other mixed fruitiness. Very thick/syrupy texture. This has a very complex taste but unfortunately I think it is highly overrated.

2010 bottle. Black, 2 finger tan head. Smells of chocolate and booze. Chocolate, red fruit, stone fruit in the flavor. Medium thick. Quite a nice beer.

Good, enjoyable RIS. Nothing too unique or standout, but a traditional RIS executed very well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque black with a brown head. Sweet aroma, some chocolate. Flavor also has some dark fruit sweetness.

Very pleasantly surprised. I’d generally consigned Leinenkugels to the large brewer trash bin but this rather small batch Imperial impressed me with its complex flavors and nice aroma. Just a wee bit too thin but an impressive effort from a larger brewer. Only trouble is finding it as it came and went in my area fairly quickly.

12 oz - Gift bottle from Chris. Boozy, roasted nose, cocoa colored wisp of a head. Good depth of notes on palate. Good but not elite.

Sampled at Northgate Andover beer tasting. Hollow and bitter for a Russian Imperial, but still pretty decent.

Delicious beer. Funny how you can write a brewer off as average, but then they release a one off and you see they really do have talent. The Big Eddy beers have been really good in my opinion. Aroma was big, thick and full. Bitter baking chocolate with a dose of roasted malt. Very nice. Pour was a deep dark brown with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was good. Not as full as the aroma, but still nice. Very bitter. Dark chocolate with just a hint toffee and not much else. Very one dimensional, but a good dimension it is. Mild carbonation.

Bottle pour at home.( from the other night) almost black pour, sweet coffee and chocolate. Really enjoyed this one, picked this up without knowing what it was and was happily surprised.

pours black with a slowly developing medium brown head. Aroma is earthy, toasted malt, slight black coffee. Very creamy mouth feel. Excellent rich taste. Toasted malt, some bitterness on the finish with a pleasant linger. 9.5 ABV is well disguised. Great stout!
