4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap. This is such a complex, and HUGE beer. It took 1.5 hours of slow sipping to drink the pint. The flavors and smells evolved considerably as the beer opened up and warmed. It should have been served in a brandy snifter instead of the pint glass. If I could change one thing, Iíd make the alcohol a bit less forward. There is a very forward distilled alcohol flavor that does fade a bit as the beer warms. What a fun beer. Definitely worth a try, youíll never forget it if you do.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle is marked 2012 vintage. Pours an oily black with light barely passing as a maroon hue. Aroma is dark fruit and wet tobacco leaves with the usual coffee and chocolate aspects. Flavor is rich and complex: bakerís chocolate, coffee and fudge with dark cherries and slight spice complexity. Full bodied, moderate carbonation and bittersweet finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (12 oz). 2012 vintage. Pitch black with a medium fully lasting brown head and some lacing. Aoma is of liquorice, raisins, figs, chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is also of liquorice (cloying), moderate sweetness, raisins, chocolate, roasted malt and light bitterness. Medium to full body. Moderate carbonation. Lingering liquorice finish. Lack of balance. Too much liquorice presence. Not easily drinkable, even for an RIS. I wasnít able to get to half of the bottle.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into snifter glass. This is an aged 2011 vintage drank late September 2014. Poured very dark, opaque with dark tan two-finger head. Nice lacing. With 11 malts, there is a lot of raisin, fig smell along with hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste brought out the sugars from the malts. Rather heavy; a nice example of an Imperial Stout. Although there are three different hops used, they just balance out the sugars that would have stayed. A long lasting taste that has the astringent tastes of alcohol. Keeps you warm. Not a bad tasting Imperial.

"another courtesy of pfoxyjohn. a big boozy vinous sweet ass stout. went great with dessert. not sticky, but very chocolatey and rum soaked raisin sweet. little hop presence, or roasted presence. tasty, but a bit too boozy and a one trick pony. still easily the best iíve had from Leine."

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I must have re-checked the label about 5 times because I couldnít believe this was made by the shandy guys. But itís a real, legit imperial stout. Big boozy flavor and mouthfeel that would undoubtedly improve with some aging. Hits you with tons of bitter chocolate up front, followed by alcohol burn in the finish. Probably a little too bitter for its own good. There is also some plum, but it is mostly overpowered.
A very big stout with lots of character, and one that screams out for some bourbon barrel aging to smooth out the palate.

Poured from a 2012 bottle into a snifter dark brown with slight head.
Aroma is dark fruit slight booze.
Flavor is figs & raisins. Some booze. Definite cocoa. The bitter finish was surprising considering the age on the brew
Balanced nicely. Smooth. Very good.
