3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Poured clear, ruddy brown with a dense, creamy toasted marshmallow head. The aroma was on the malty side with reddish fruits and biscuity malts paired with spicy rye, another layer of rich dark fruit meat, and light herbal hoppage.. alcohol was very well hidden.. very nice. The flavor found dark fruit, molasses, and biscuity malts at the core, with slightly tacky dark fruit skins, light peppery alcohol, and rye around.. a bit muddled on the finish, and the rye addition didnít necessarily help or hurt it there. Medium-plus bodied with rolling carbonation through the middle of the palate.. got caught up in a few places, so the flow wasnít great.. overall a tasty brew.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
This was a flat, not very flavorful rye wine. It has that oatmeally rye flavor but it isnt complex in the least. Very mild on the tongue.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Dark mahogany pour with a coppery luster. Aroma is sweet and malty, with vinous traits. Very sweet, sticky palate, lots of caramel and dark fruits, spicy and vinous nuances, but really just very sweet. Glad I had Parksy and Grippits for this one, as thereís no way I could finish this bottle by myself.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: † Bit of a slightly rough and thin Barley Wine. † Not rich or overly malty, nor overly hoppy. † Has a bready aspect, rye, some pithy bitterness. † Does hide the 10% ABV well. † A little rough, witih a very faint cough syrup like sweetness. † Could be a little smoother, but its not green or young. † Moderate example that could use a little work. † Thanks Bob!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark reddish brown pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of big red fruits, dark fruits, hints of oak, rye, slight dark caramel and toffee notes, slight grass, spice. Taste is a mix of sweet red and dark fruits, hints of oak, slight rye, spice notes into some caramel, slight molasses and hints of booze. Pretty tasty.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sampled on draft at Rivertowne this beer poured a bright golden color with a small foamy white head that faded and left a bit of lacing. the aroma was cider vinegar, bread, citrus and a bit of Sprite. The flavor was tangy and bready with some vinegar, butter, perfume and pepper. Medium length bread, vinegar and perfume finish. Medium body. Not good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark mahogany color with a thin off white head. The aroma and flavor have dark caramel, dark fruits, some spicy rye notes, the alcohol is noticeable but not distracting. I like this one for what it is. Nice drinking rye wine I would be willing to get again.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle, 4pk. Deep mahogany, clear pour. No head. Sticky glass, oily pour. Aromatics of fusel, very alcoholic nose, smells of wort. Very strong, itís a sipper! Peppery tingle on the tongue in the finish. Sticky mouthfeel, very sweet flavor. Sugary flavor, honey-like, but not mead. Tastes like under-fermented wort. Overall, this beer is more of a Dopplebock or even an Eisbock made of rye, than anything else. . Itís just too sweet. Tastes like hopped peppery honey. (3937)
