12 oz. Clear copper-amber with a lasting film of cream. Mild nose of rich caramel and spicy dry grass. Flavors of spicy caramel, toast, lightly sour tangelo, peppery dried grass and just barely a note of alcohol. Nice balance of the rich malty flavors provided by the dry grass and minty finish. Medium-heavy body is smoothly carbonated with a light tongue tingle from the hops and a pleasant touch of warmth.

Bottle - average size foamy head, medium clear amber color, sweet caramel malty aroma and flavor, fair hop balance, syrupy mouthfeel - OK overall, expected a little better ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Milky honey blond with a monster white crown that takes way to long to reacquaint with the shandy below. Aroma of orange, lemon and sugar. Taste is all wrong and sweet with orange, lemon, orange rind and pithy notes.

Sweet alcohol at first with a toasty bite to follow. Not bad for a night cap on a cold night.

Good look and good aroma, but comes across as winey. High alc may be the reason. Similar to some of the other Big Eddys which I’d like to see a little more separation.

Bottle from Rays in Tosa. Pours a reddish orange with a tan head leaving spots of lace. Aroma has sweet fruits and nuts, pale malts and honey. Taste is of sweet caramel, dark fruits with oranges, some earthy rye, and nuts plus hints of spicy black pepper. Medium to full bodied. A lot going on. Not very "marzen"y. Finishes sweetly fruity with nuts and alcohol. More an American Strong ale, IMO, than a marzen. Not a negative in my book. Interesting, a bit sweet, fairly tasty.

Solid but unremarkable. This draft came off a little flat and it threw me off from the get go. Standard octoberfest malts, maybe kicked up a bit being that its marketed as "imperial" but I couldn’t tell.

12oz bottle - pours clear redding amber with tan head. Nose is rye (?), caramel, toast and hay. Sip adds pumpkin and booze. Malty with a grapefruit finish. After a while this tastes like brown sugar with a blast of grapefruit.

Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Über-Oktoberfest has a thin, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, brilliant orange-copper appearance, and a little bit of thin lacing left behind. The aroma is rather bold- rich, bready malt, brown bread crust, a bit of orange, some sweetness, and a pungent note. Taste is of rich, sweet, bready, barley malt, sweetness, mandarin orange pulp, brown bread crust, slight nut, and a fairly pronounced straight-forward hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to thick, with some carbonation prickle, and Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Über-Oktoberfest finishes decently crisp, easy-drinking, and remarkably smooth. Overall, this is delicious, and I strongly advise trying it. RJT
