Smells like tea and bandaid malt and this is very fresh. Horrible. Taste is sweetish and unbalanced and awful. Really not enjoyable. Dumped it.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle. Thick pour, dark orange brown color. Thick creamy foam. Aroma of sweet sugar malts, toasted notes. Thick, very heavy bodied. Tastes of malt syrup, with hops extract. Thick and syrupy texture. Finishes with a tannin bitterness. Very heavy. Could have definitely been thinned out to make a slightly bigger Leine Oktoberfest. It’s big, Eddy! (3834)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear Amber with a foamy yet fizzy head that fades after a few minutes; Good lacing Nose is citrus hops, caramel, roasted barley & malts, yeasts and some nutty notes. Flavor is floral hops, roasted barley, nuts, citrus, and yeasts. Body is moderate in weight yet thick at the same time; Carbonation is between mild and moderate. A bit boozy but surprisingly good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is a decently carbonated cherry wood-amber with a lingering cream colored head. The aroma is malt forward at first with a pungent earthy hop note blasting itself through. The body is medium. When they describe this as "bolder," they ain’t kidding. Unlike other Marzens, this one has an explosive hop and boozy presence with the malts in the background.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Toasty caramel malt, and light spicy hop aroma. Clear deep copper with a huge beige head. Buttery toasty caramel malt, light vegetal note, spicy hop, and somewhat boozy flavor. Not a fan of this take on a marzen.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On draft. Amber colored. Sweet aroma, some toasted marshmallow. Taste is way too sweet, hints of oranges, candy, not roasty or big or bold. Just way to sweet. Tastes alright, but not an Oktoberfest at all. Almost like candied orange, dry hops.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. The look is clear, amber in color, and had a thinner beige colored head. The smell is malty, sweet, toffee, rich, and caramel. The taste is too sweet, malt, grain, sticky, and candy.

It poured a brown color with a small head. The aroma was of caramel and nutty notes with spicy and leafy accents. The taste was of caramel, nutty notes and a touch of honey with black pepper, rye and some fruity accents. It was decent.

9/21/2013: Leinenkugels Big Eddy Über-Oktoberfest 2013... Aroma: Malty and fruity (basted pear), tinged with some alcohol - that’s all I get. Appearance: Clean copper color with a bubbly khaki crown. Flavor: Fruity caramel with a hint of spice on the backside, herbally-ctirus quality in the finish; Palate: Medium to medium-full body; smooth and lightly creamy; really nice, milky mouthfeel. Overall: TOO SWEET, borders on syrupy; the hops, if any are actually in there, are completely overwhelmed by the uber-sweet maliness; the brewery says that this beer is "a bolder, toastier take on an Oktoberfestbier dry-hopped for added complexity." I don’t get any of that AT ALL (okay, bolder is legit considering the alcohol level), but the toastiness and hops that I was expecting are nowhere to be found. In the end, this is not an Oktoberfest beir or even "Imperial Oktoberfest" and is quite the let-down, especially at the exorbitant price; if anything, this beer is more like and English-style Barleywine and if it were classified that way I’d actually dig it, but as a bit Oktoberfest, it’s just not anywhere near the style. 12 fl. oz. bottle (8.5% Alc/Vol; JAN2014) from Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #27 for this beer.

Bottle. Pours a deep pumpkin color with a creamy head. Aroma is toasted marshmallows and candied pineapple. Quite sweet but with a bitter edge. A very nice dark Oktoberfest beer.
