2.3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer is weird. Syrupy, thick, barely any aroma. Big malt backbone with caramel and some toastiness, but i don’t think it tastes anything like an Oktoberfest of any sort. The malt/hops combo creates a flavor that reminds me of a half ass barley wine, causing an identity crisis. The color is a beautiful orange amber, and sadly for me this was its strong point.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear beautiful copper under a thick rocky light beige head. Lovely nose of boozy caramel and a touch of floral grassy notes, and a light kiss of sweet cantaloupe. Creamy sweet flavor of boozy nougat, caramel, blonde toasted biscuit, and sweet floral hop resins with very low bitterness--hops for a light flavor balance only. Appropriate booze and sweetness levels with a good caramel base.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to snifter. Looks good for the style; a transparent amberish caramel with foamy off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells Offaly and mildly toasty with notes of plum, toffee, and lager yeast. Tastes like it smells with a medium-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable; almost like a quad with lager yeast.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a dark amber with little or no head. Sweet malty aroma of honey. Very sweet with notes of oranges and malt. Do not really notice the hops, but did feel the alcohol. Was intrigued by this decked out Marzen and it didn?t disappoint by introducing some interesting flavors.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
clear copper with a small tan head.
Bread-heel, caramel aroma.
Caramel malt, boozy taste....
Fairly sweet and sticky....sugary..then a clingy and boozy finish.
Not an easy drinker.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a deep red-brown with a shallow, lacy, fine-grained off-white head. Nose is caramel, golden raisins, cooked apples, tea, and smoke. Sweet and caramelly, with a lot of boozy flavor behind it; I don’t get much dry-hopping at all, but it’s definitely more extracted and more emphatic than your average Oktoberfest offering. Velvety on the tongue, it’s got definite weight behind it, and stays right in the caramel/toffee range. Reminds me of a good, rich bread pudding. Finish is heavy, boozy, and sweet; definitely a confectionery beer. Nice.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - not entirely sure why I bought this - first you imperialize an ofest, then you dry hop it? - whatever - pours medium amber - no really head or lace to speak of - nose has some decent, toasty malt richness, but the high hopping also adds some tropical notes that are odd for the style - there’s also a bit of booziness - flavor is very sweet, sugary, with strong tropical fruit and abrasive hop bitterness, along with a bit of a hot finish - weak.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Started nicely. Pour was orang amber nice to see that first October or pumpkin pour of the year. Aroma was nice with malt some spices honey in it. Then the taste screwed it up and made this a generous 2.4. Waaaay too much of sweetness sugar candy. Tried to hard and sucked

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Chicago Beer Society’s Umpteenth Annual Picnic, and self served to a clear, plastic shaker showing a clear, amber hue, with frothy, off white head foam, and wavy cling to the lacing. The nose was toasted, malty, caramel, and alcohol at the ready. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the alcohol revealed more of a slightly boozy nature, there was moderate bitterness, but the flavor was a bit too malty sweet for my tastes. Marzens are definitely meant to be more drinkable, imo.
