Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear light copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is sort of cooked oatmeal with mixed floral/fruit hop. Med + body or better. Flavor is sort of cooked cereal with some heat and moderate floral/fruit hop. It is smooth. It is slick. The flavors aren’t really strong, but they are firm, and it’s rather amazing. "Toastier"? Maybe that’s part of it. Don’t dismiss this ale!

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of caramel, fruitiness and toasted malt. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of caramel, fruitiness, light toasted malt and a hint of earthiness with a crisp fruity finish.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing. Caramel, malt and hops in the nose. Medium body with a slightly boozy character and notes of caramel, grainy malt and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft. Just a poor maerzen. Ultra sweet and sugary. No malt complexity. Pitiful for the style.

On tap @ WI State Fair. Poured rich deeper brown with not much head. The aroma picked up warm caramel and nutty notes with spicy and leafy accents.. warmed up the back of the nose. The flavor found warm caramel, nutty notes, and a kiss of honey with black pepper, rye, and fruity accents.. spicy, memorable finish. Medium-plus bodied and well-balanced.. I need more!

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber orange with a tan head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Flavor has lots of sweet grains with a bit of toffee and some underlying booziness. Flavor is similarly sweet with notes of sweet grain, caramel and cookie backed by a bit of booze and toffee.

Bottle. Clear reddish amber pour with a smaller head. Smells boozy like a malt likka. Tastes like a malty boozy mess.

12oz bottle. Date on bottle reads "Jan 2014". Clear red-orange color. Good thin khaki head. Very nice reaches of lace. Surprisingly hoppy nose. Very big citrusy, spicy hops, at the level of a red IPA. Some caramel sweet malts. Big bitter taste, a light bite in the finish. Bigger body. Lighter, more crisp carbonation. More sticky texture. Very hoppy / spicy oktoberfest, so left-field for the style. But hoppy is what the kids like, right? Tenth & Blake sure are an enterprising bunch.. I’m always skeptical going into these, sort of wanting to not like it, but I have to admit, this is a pretty enjoyable oktoberfest-DIPA
