3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear light copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is sort of cooked oatmeal with mixed floral/fruit hop. Med + body or better. Flavor is sort of cooked cereal with some heat and moderate floral/fruit hop. It is smooth. It is slick. The flavors aren’t really strong, but they are firm, and it’s rather amazing. "Toastier"? Maybe that’s part of it. Don’t dismiss this ale!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ WI State Fair. Poured rich deeper brown with not much head. The aroma picked up warm caramel and nutty notes with spicy and leafy accents.. warmed up the back of the nose. The flavor found warm caramel, nutty notes, and a kiss of honey with black pepper, rye, and fruity accents.. spicy, memorable finish. Medium-plus bodied and well-balanced.. I need more!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. Date on bottle reads "Jan 2014". Clear red-orange color. Good thin khaki head. Very nice reaches of lace. Surprisingly hoppy nose. Very big citrusy, spicy hops, at the level of a red IPA. Some caramel sweet malts. Big bitter taste, a light bite in the finish. Bigger body. Lighter, more crisp carbonation. More sticky texture. Very hoppy / spicy oktoberfest, so left-field for the style. But hoppy is what the kids like, right? Tenth & Blake sure are an enterprising bunch.. I’m always skeptical going into these, sort of wanting to not like it, but I have to admit, this is a pretty enjoyable oktoberfest-DIPA

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Deep amber, a bit of a copper hue, moderate foamy light beige head, nice lacing.   A bit more hoppy and citrusy than your normal Marzen on the nose.   Me Like!   Chewy on the tongue, caramel, bready malts, but also citrusy and a bit hoppy.   More hoppy than most.   This is a really well balanced example that has the bitterness and sweetness in balance.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Finishes hoppy, but also with a citrusy sweetness, caramel breadiness, and some biscuit.   This is not your normal over the top bready/mealy/biscuity Oktoberfest, this one has some hop bitterness and citrus sweetness to really balance it out.   Hard to believe this is 8.5%.   This one really worked for me!   Thanks Bob!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reddish Mahogany, with a nice sturdy head. Smells caramel, lightly nutty, and a touch of citrusy hops. Very rich palate, almost to the point of distraction. Flavor is caramel and toffee, pecan, and some woody, spicy hops. Not bad, but probably would’ve been better if the temperature was about 25 degrees lower...

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - not entirely sure why I bought this - first you imperialize an ofest, then you dry hop it? - whatever - pours medium amber - no really head or lace to speak of - nose has some decent, toasty malt richness, but the high hopping also adds some tropical notes that are odd for the style - there’s also a bit of booziness - flavor is very sweet, sugary, with strong tropical fruit and abrasive hop bitterness, along with a bit of a hot finish - weak.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate toasted caramel, light fruit, and a touch of alcohol that comes across almost whiskey-like. It pours a transparent amber with a small off-white head. The flavor starts with moderate caramel, light-moderate apple, and fruit. The finish has some light toastiness. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, a little too sweet and I could definitely do without the apple flavors.
