COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filling the senses with a fragrant malt aroma, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale features a variety of robust malts that create rich flavor and texture. Hand-selected malts include Pale, Honey, Caracrystal® Wheat, Roasted, Victory®, and Cherrywood Smoked. Like its predecessor, Russian Imperial Stout, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale ages and travels well.

Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, a dense, mahogany-colored brew, features a creamy tan foam. As it warms, the layers of malt flavors will melt together revealing the subtle undertones of fruit and biscuits. As the brew mellows, it reveals more of its plum, raisin, and dark cherry flavors.

This is the type of beer that makes a great Chirstmas / Winter beer. Its a 100 degrees out, but this is stiil a very good beer. Sweet toffee malts with boozy nose. Syrupy mild sweet flavors of molasses, brown sugars, dark fruits, with a presence of alcohol. Not getting the peat. Good smooth full body. Good job Leinenkugel. 2012 limited release.

This beer just rubbed me the right way... I’m pretty sure this is as close to perfect as I’ve been in a long time

On tap at Oriley & Conways, pours a clear dark brown with a nice red hue in the light and a creamy tan head, the aroma is of heavy malt and caramel with some scotch notes, the flavor has a nice full front end with a ton of caramel and malt and a finish of scotch that is nearly perfect, mouthfeel is crazy smooth and delicious, awesome stuff.

Tap at flying saucer beerfest. Intense aroma of caramel, melted malts. Clear brown color, points were takin off for a head that vanished and no lacing. Amazing taste: caramel, alcohol, bread, hay, wow. Warming on the stomach. Great brew!!

Bottle - Pours deep mahogany with a thin foamy tan head. Nose is big sweet peaty malt, toffee and wood, booze-soaked chocolate cake. Damn...haven’t been loving big beers lately, but I have to admit that smells pretty good. The taste brings it too, the same deep, rich malt flavors exist, with some dark fruit and a bit of smokiness mingling in, especially on the finish. Everything is mixing together well--it’s not disjointed at all. Smooth in flavor and body, it finishes with sweet fruitiness and some cocoa. Holy balls, this is good stuff.

Pours a dark mahogany with a smallish tan head. Nose is caramel and molasses. Very creamy on the palate. Taste is chockful of chocolate, molasses, caramel and a hint of smokiness. Finishes creamy and a little dry- leaving a very pleasant aftertaste. An excellent beer, best served alone to really enjoy all the flavors.

About a 1/2 inch thick head of fine and dense bubbles. Aroma of sweet fruit, some peat but not much smokyness at all. Maybe a bit of raisin also or dried apples. Color is a very dark crimson brown. Wow, now the smoked malts and peat come out in the flavor. Considerable malt and a bit on the sweet side with more dark fruit and spices (spiced plums). This seems like a cross bread between a dopplebock and a scotch ale. Finishes sweet and oily. A decent scotch ale.

Draft. Nice malty aroma, caramel, licorice, toffee. Poured a dark brown/grey color. Fairly sweet malty taste, medium-heavy body, hides the high alcohol well. Sold scotch ale well-representing the style.

12oz bottle ’12 Vintage 6/1/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-39° in Stem Glass-Pours a dark brown with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of candy apple, roasted malt, and sweetness. Taste of the same with more sweetness along with some smoke and dried fruit. This full bodied brew is well balanced and hides the ABV very well. Great brew.
