3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Nice malty aroma, caramel, licorice, toffee. Poured a dark brown/grey color. Fairly sweet malty taste, medium-heavy body, hides the high alcohol well. Sold scotch ale well-representing the style.

12oz bottle ’12 Vintage 6/1/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-39° in Stem Glass-Pours a dark brown with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of candy apple, roasted malt, and sweetness. Taste of the same with more sweetness along with some smoke and dried fruit. This full bodied brew is well balanced and hides the ABV very well. Great brew.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at AZ Wine. Pours a dark amber hue with a trim beige head. Smells of fruit cake and sugar cookies. Cherries, balsa wood, and caramel on the palate. The sweet malts had their way with this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle from Scott. Poured a super dark brown body with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of wet camp firewood, metal, earth, peat, green peppers. Fuller bodied with stronger carbonation and an acidic feel. Flavor is a tad better than the aroma, notes of wet smoke, wet raisins, mud, peat. Not bad but there is a touch of sweetness that I’m not used to in my Scotch ales.

Pours a slick, glossy mahogany with an aroma of saliva-on-the-nose peat. Flavor is peaty plumb and caramel. Slick on the palate. Meh.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Vintage 2012. 12oz bottle. Deep mahogany, thin white head. Sweet malt aroma, nice toasted character, light smoke, some bubblegum. Loads of alcohol in the nose, whoa. Taste is loaded with dark malt sugar. Dominated by dark fruit. A huge Wee Heavy for sure! Finishes like a Quad, loads of burn. Overall a good substitute for a Belgian Strong. Betters as it warms...(3344)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2012 Tap pours copper brown red with lasting off white head. The aroma is mild with mostly toasted malt flavors. The taste is smooth but big and grainy. There is a nice mellow chocolate up front with a raisin date murky fruit behind it and a lingering toasted and roasted grain. There is enough bitterness to contend with the grain but what little hay and grass like hop flavors you get are overcome by grain and alcohol. A solid effort but finishes a bit basic, good for leinenkugel though.

Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured dark clear brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
almost a red tint to the otherwise dark leather color with a beige head. a gentle toasted malt aroma. The high alcohol content is masked beautifully by the semi sweet caramel roasted malts.

Clear reddish mahogany pour thin layer of off white to khaki head ... aroma of sweet chewy caramel malts, roasted malts, molasses .... taste is of smoked peat malt, sweet sugary caramel malts, roasted malts, molasses with a light bitter bite at the end .... finish is dry malty and thin .... something odd about this brew abv hidden well though
