COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Filling the senses with a fragrant malt aroma, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale features a variety of robust malts that create rich flavor and texture. Hand-selected malts include Pale, Honey, Caracrystal® Wheat, Roasted, Victory®, and Cherrywood Smoked. Like its predecessor, Russian Imperial Stout, Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale ages and travels well.

Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, a dense, mahogany-colored brew, features a creamy tan foam. As it warms, the layers of malt flavors will melt together revealing the subtle undertones of fruit and biscuits. As the brew mellows, it reveals more of its plum, raisin, and dark cherry flavors.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, some dank basement and peat smoke. Flavor is dark sugar and dark fruit with some smoke and a minor peat. This was a tasty scotch ale that was easy to drink for being 9.5%.

On tap at BTBF. Pours with a hazed brown hued body with a medium sized tan head that lasts decently well. Aromas are of brown sugar, figs, plums, dark fruit, caramel malt, and dark fruits. Light smokey aromas. Flavors are very smokey, peat, bacon, dark fruits. Light brown sugar, caramel and blue cheese. Fuller mouthfeel, fuller carbonation than expected.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours deep, brown amber with tan head that fades away. Aroma of toffee, dark fruit and molasses. Flavor is much the same with a light sweetness and a bit Smokey, almost hints at bacon. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy with low-medium carbonation. Overall, solid brew!

12 oz bottle: Aroma is malt forward, plums, alcohol, slight roasted and chocolate notes. A light herbal hop texture sneaks through in the background. Appearance is a very carbonated dark reddish hue with a thin tan head that lingers. Taste has got a nice full malty texture, nice complexity then finishes with a cough drop like note. Plates really carbonated on the tongue and finishes with the lingering medicinal note. Overall, Pretty good has some flaws, but not too many flaws that makes it horrid. Cheers!

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and served to a Big Eddy logo-ed snifter with a ruby highlighted, deep mahogany color, moussy, cream/light tan head foam that gradually diminished to a thick ring & film, and left clingy dots & dashed of lacing on the glass. The aroma was substantial malt, caramel, dark fruit as prune, raisin, and cherry, a port-like nature, and some slight earthiness. The flavor added minimal hop bitterness, a syrupy texture, medium+ body, near cloying sweetness and some pleasantly warming alcohol. I would have preferred a little less sweetness, some elevated earthy peatiness, which is usually consistent with the style, and some dryness to the finish, but was basically satisfied with this brew as a decent sipper.

12 oz bottle. Clear cola brown with a creamy tan head. Nose is peat, toffee and faint grape. Silky body with a buzz ending sticky. Taste is quite sweet cherry and grape, peat adds a bitter note with lingering smoke. I got a fortified wine feel from this one.
