3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a half finger of head on a deep amber colored body.
The aroma is a wonderfully rich caramel, licorice and cotton candy.
The taste delivers with a high sweet rating dominated by caramel with the mildest lemon bitter. A fairly short finish with some alcohol heat, which is nice.
Smooth texture with moderate carbonation.
Enjoyable and good.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours murky brown with a small amount of light tan fizz. Smells strongly of caramel. Taste is an explosion of caramel and toffee flavors. Full-bodied with a slick texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Leinenkugel’s Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale finishes with a lingering sweetness.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a dark ruby amber with a thin beige head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, dark fruit, and smoke. Flavor was sweet and malty with caramel malts, dark fruit, molasses, smoky peat and had a fairly sweet and dry finish.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2012 Vintage. Aroma is bourbon, I thought this might be BB aged, but it isn’t. Pours cloudy dark brown, no head. Taste is unexpected. It’s traditional scotch ale flavors with a bit of tartness. Not too much, but it’s sort of like a Belgian/Scotch ale hybrid or something. A little odd, but the 9.5% abv is nice.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - pours a dark ruby with a fair tan lace - nose of toffee, moderate melanoidin richness, vanilla bean, bourbon, light smoke - however, there is also a mild acidity that seems off and unintentional - body is fairly creamy - moderate acidity early, tart, almost sour - uncharacteristic of the style, tasting characteristic of an infection - underneath there are rich malts, moderate smoke, plum, raisin - but it’s hard to overlook that initial sourness - disappointing.

This is my favorite scotch ale... Brewed in Wisconsin... By Leinenkugel. It's so wrong, but so true. I love Big Eddy :)

My first wee heavy. Dark, rich, warming. Thought it was a little syrupy, which is probably the style. I hated it at first- it felt too sweet for me. After drinking a few more over a few days, I started liking it a bit more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
December 11, 2013 - bottle from Flanagans. Dark brown pour with nice amount of head. A nice aroma of malt, dark fruit, alcohol and yeast. Taste was consistent with aroma, but also had a touch of spice and smoke that I enjoyed. Medium bodied, relatively smooth and a slightly dry alcohol finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz. bottle, 2012 vintage, cellar aged since release. Aroma of sweet, toffeeish malt, brown sugar, raisin, dried cranberry, apple, and some faint maple nut and tartness in the background. Hazy dark red-brown in color with a very slight, light tan ring head. Flavor profile is full of dark fruit, berryish tones and dark caramel malts, with touches of fruity tartness, earth, spice and wood. Light to moderate bitterness appearing towards the finish. Ultimately dry, lightly acidic and warming on the palate, low in effervescence, body is certainly full enough. Respectable.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Love me a good scotch ale and I liked the Russian Imperial Stout in the Big Eddy series, so I had to give this one a try. Pours a great dark amber color with a very small tan head that disappears right away. No lacing on the glass: I never understood why lacing is such a big deal anyway. The aroma is comprised of many sweet things: caramel, raisin are the most prevalent. As I kept smelling it, I could pick up some apricot, fig and what I can only describe as Pixy Stix. Complex aroma, but way too sweet for me. Almost headache-inducing. The taste is sweet also, but not as much as the smell. It has a tartness up front and in the aftertaste. There is also a little bitterness, which I was not expecting. Taste was just okay. Palate was slick with a decent aftertaste. Not my favorite; Founders Dirty Bastard is way better and cheaper. Schlafly Single Malt Scottish is also much better. Go with one of those.
