Bottle and served in my Iechyd Da snifter: Pours a ruby mahogany hue with fading fizzy head and no lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, moderate smoke, slight iodine, some aromatic chocolate malts along with a dollop of mineral water and leather. The taste is smoky sweet and meaty but compared to the Pipeworks Wee Heavy I had before it this seems tepid and weaker. Some boozy, medicinal and mineral elements as well to help complexity. The mouth feel is oily and medium bodied. Drinkable but lacks the richness to compete with the alcohol, colour me a wee bit disappointed.

12oz bottle. Pours clear, dark brown with a 2-finger light brown head that disappears too quickly leaving no lacing. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch and smoky burnt molasses. Palate is full body, oily/thick feel, soft carbonation and a long bittersweet sticky finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Quite a good brew!

Unique smoked BBQ and milk aroma. Very dark blackish magenta with nice lacing. Interesting flavors of amber malt, cinnamon, herbs and yeast. Alcohol is well masked. Some unique flavors I am unable to pinpoint are here. Overall, this is a nice change of pace. Very unique flavors.

Tap. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Very malty flavors with apparent alcohol. Initial taste is sweet but then mellows into a smoky malt flavor with a lingering sweetness. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Who would have expected this kind of malty goodness to come from the makers of beer that tastes like Fruit Loops? Thinking about giving their other small-run beers a shot.

Clear dark woodsy amber with a small foamy white head. Nose was peaty and darkly sweet with a bit of char and raisin. Flavor was a little boozy and woodsy, a little, with some gentle earthy peat and dark earthy sweetness. A touch of raisin too. Not shabby.

Tap at Dexters. Filtered looking burgundy-brown. Pretty smooth malt tones. Sweet toffee, raisin, nuts. Deep amber alcohol soaked woody malt. Relatively easy drinking, alcohol hidden well, incorporated at least. Solid, but I had higher hopes.

Pours a three finger light tan head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Nice clear ruby color. Light carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Dark fruit and caramel nose, flavor is dark fruit and caramel, hints of the higher ABV. Decent scotch ale. $3.29 for a 12oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, MA.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (caramel, molasses), with notes of brown sugar, honey, orange peel, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy/watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. "Layer upon layer of sugars" would be more accurate. A big, dumb, syrupy sweet boozer. The guys at The Bruery would LOVE this stuff.

12 ounce bottle poured a dark amber color with aromas of toffee, caramel, and some light peat. flavors are the same, malty toffee backbone with some soft smoke on the back end, nice beer overall.

On tap. Dark brown with slightly lighter brown, extremely foamy head. Nose is malt, caramel and roasted nuts. Heavy lacing. Taste is more of the caramel and nuts with a little fruit. The requisite smoke is subdued, making for a pretty good Scotch ale.
