COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

12 oz. can poured very cold to plastic, showing a hazed, light golden hue, a modest, white head, and spotty lacing. The nose was light grain, pils malt, and a touch of spice. The flavor followed with low hop bitterness and a fairly dry and crisp finish. Light bodied, lively carbonated, and a decent quencher.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. A sweet nose of honey. The flavor is light, some biscuit, a bit of lemon and honey, herbal tea. Smooth and decent.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle which is stamped: May2012-E20011421. The pour is pale yellow with a goodly amount of fizzy white carbonated head that lingers. The aroma is typical of a Kolsch with a good dose of barley and rye grains and a hop crispness. The body is light to medium. The taste is low bitterness that ends very clean. It deserves a decent rating because it represents the style well.

Smelled like a kolsch, light bready malts, soft spicy and grassy hop nose but the similarity stopped there. Flavor was very light, finish totally empty, devoid of any body or flavor, just watery. Lingering taste of beery soda water. Good start but the rest was a complete failure. Golden color, small head. I put down the half filled glass of this and then totally forgot I was even drinking it. That’s the impression it left on me.

I guess this is a Kolsch? Germany wouldn’t be too happy. Clear yellow-orange pour with thin fading white head, aroma brought notes of corn, grain, biscuit, cereal, slight spice from the rye, some very slight lemon. Taste is a mix of grain, corn, cereal, rice, slight spice, finishing watery, dry, slightly biscuity, Blech, this is a top 5 worst from them.

Bottle at the log cabin. Doesn’t really have the crisp edge or flavor of some of the other kolschs I’ve had lately...nice try but no prize

Another fine product from Leinenkugel! I was very sad when I ran out of this. I need to pick up some more soon. Great brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Twisted Jimmy’s. Very mild aroma - a bit of beany hops and mild pale malt sweetness. Light golden blond clear with thin white head. Light body with medium-high carbonation. Starts with light carbonic acidity, mild pale malt sweetness ,and light beany hop flavor. Mild flavors overall, with some carbonic bite to it. Some honey and dusky grain. Watery finish, clean after. Nothing really wrong with it, but not a good kölsch example.

This is a horrible attempt at the style. This tastes like an adjunct lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle. Straw color, with a thin, bubbly head. Light rye bread, floral and resinous hops, cloves, and some biscuity notes. Light sweetness up front, with a pretty sharp bitterness through the finish. Light body, sticky, and fairly lively carbonation. This is just a little to hoppy and forward to be really refreshing, but still a light and relatively flavorful beer.
