COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

bhensonb (9007) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 18, 2013
Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours pale gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is dusty. That’s an impression rather than an aroma. It hits my nose like dust does. Near med body. Flavor is bready, and there’s some hop bitter. I’m thinking this might pass in Koln. They like bland beer there.

Tmoney99 (8792) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Bottle. Poured clear pale color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate balanced grainy roma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium balance sweet finish of short to moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Huntersville, NC. Pours a clear golden color with a thin frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of grainy malts, some toast, grassy hops. The taste is grain, corn and grassy hops. Thin-medium bodied.

shrubber85 (5985) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Bottle. Corn malt and hay aroma. Pale yellow with large white head. Mildly sweet corn/barley malt and hay flavor. Light body - almost like a Koelsch but only if you dumped a Miller GD in it.

DuffMan (5202) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 6, 2013
Bottle. Blonde body, average white head. Aroma is sweet grains with light sulfur and light yeast. Sweet grainy palate, bland, plain. Calling this a kolsch is a fucking joke. I have yet to have a Leinenkugels beer that impresses me.

heemer77 (5013) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle. Rich gold hued beer with a thin bright white head. Raw potatoes, dough and yeast are present in the nose. This is clean as far as taste goes with notes of bread crust and pear core. Hints of clove come through in the light finish along with a definite metallic note. Decent with slightly sharp carbonation.
