In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

Pours a pretty yellow gold with a pure white smallish head. Nose is hops and grain. Light on the body, but still quite creamy on the palate, the taste is bread and yeast with very little hops bitterness. A very smooth and satisfying beer that pairs well with smoke turkey sandwiches.

Now I liked this one, but I’m a fan of the rye’s. Lots of good malty rye flavors here would recommend.

Where and how: bottle, tasting
Aroma: medium intense, with higher pitch. Malty sweetness with herbal hops. ..not most refined.
Appearance :
Top: mid sized, white cap. Some lace shown.
Base: clear, gold
Palate : soft, medium bodied. Easy going with its lighter carbonation. Sadly, fades quickly.
Taste: softer walls, clean with softer mid. Lacking crispness, is it rye?
other notes clean, refreshing brew but lacking a bit of crisp lagery vibe that Kolsch has.

12 oz bottle: Aroma has got a lightly malt notes with a bready texture. Appearance is a clear golden with a white head that diminishes quickly. Taste has got a lightly grassy hops with a bready malt texture but very drinkable. Overall, decent stuff but nothing special. Cheers!

At my company party: pours golden with white head. Weak aroma. Easy drinking. Ever so slightly sweet. What rye? Plus if you got rue doesn’t it make it not a kolsch? Oh well. This jawn was meh.

Bottle. Golden in color. Malt and Cereal grain aroma. This beer taste like Fruity Pebbles. And that pretty much sums it up.

Nothing special here. Just a changeup for my beer fridge. Not great, but not bad. Subtle sweet. Reminds me of MGD, but way better

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a two finger head of bubbly white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave rings of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a grainy and slightly bready smell mixed with a little bit of a lemon and grassy smell. A tiny bit of yeast and rye are there as well rounding out the smell. Taste – The taste begins with a slightly grainy and bready flavor mixed with some caramel and a little bit corn syrup and grass. As the taste moves forward a little bit of a rye flavor works its way onto the tongue and brings with it some citrus and spice flavors of a light pepper and some clove. With some lemongrass coming at the very end, one is left with a bready spiced flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather light and thin with a carbonation level that is a little bit on the higher side. Fairly nice for the style and for making for a rather easy drinking brew even in light of the somewhat odd mix of tastes of the brew. Overall – A decent brew, with a good feel and a decent aroma and feel which made for a crisp and refreshing brew. It does however have a somewhat odd flavor combination, which I did not find all that approachable, but with that said others may like it, so I would say it is least one to give a try to.

A subdued aroma of yeast, pours a clear pale straw color with no real head. A watery feel with a taste of yeast, hints of grass, with a very short lasting yeast finish.
