COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

12 oz bottle from build-a-sixer. Pours a pale yellow with a creamy head. Has a nice Kolsch-y smell to it, with a bit of hard water and light, bready malts. Sits up on the tongue nicely, though it is hard to get excited about this style in the first place. It does have a light malt taste, plus a little spice from rye. Basic German hop bitterness. More of the nice stuff Leinie’s can make when they’re not up the wazoo with pink fruit weisses. Seems to have been packaged kind of early for a summer seasonal.

What do you get when you combine a style I don’t care for and a brewer I (usually) don’t particularly care for? This, I suppose. Pretty bland and boring. Overcarbonated. Grassy & gassy. I’m probably being a little harsh with my score but I didn’t care to finish my free 12 oz bottle..."

A straight forward kolsch with a nice hoppiness. Very smooth and easy to drink. Pours a light golden with a short, thin head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle at Mikes. Poured like the Miller Fortune I drank, or tried to drink, last night. Gold body, thin, average sized foamy white head, lots of clinging bubbles. Aroma is adjuncts, grains. ..corn...rice...green grape skins. Medium body, slightly harsh, quicker fading aftertaste thankfully. Flavor isnt as bad as aroma but almost, lots of grains, corn and rice a touch of sweetness. Blah

Light and refreshing summer beer. Somewhat sweet and lacking in bitterness compared to your average Kölsch.

12oz bottle picked up at The Grapevine
Pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates quickly, no lacing. Aroma is grainy, sweet malts and honey. Taste is malts, grainy, honey with some spiciness
Decent, just a little too sweet to be a good summer beer.

Pours a bright golden with alot of carbonation/effervescence. The aroma is that of pils, grain and light hops. Heavy carbonation evident in the palate. The taste is very non-descript. A bit better than Budweiser. The Appearance is it’s best quality.

Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is slightly sweet, slightly grainy, light spice. Well carbonate body. Not a ton of flavor in this one. Light grain, maybe some rye, and that’s about it. Not a lot to this one but it’s a decent thirst quencher on a hot day.

Bottle. Clear gold in color with a medium white head. Aroma of malt, honey, slight rye and noble hops. Malty and biscuity flavor with a sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has lots of sweet grain with a bit of biscuit and some underlying grassy notes. Flavor is more of a grass and sweet grain combination with a sweet biscuity finish.

Hmm, not a distinct flavor here, its definitely light and clean but not a lot of rye, and not very good. too much malt I think? not fully sure.
