COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1906, the Kolsch-style beer originated from the Cologne region of Germany as a crisp and light beer to combat the summer heat. Leinenkugel’s® Canoe Paddler™ is our take on the Kolsch-style beer that we tweaked with a touch of rye. Our spring and summer seasonal has subtle malt flavors, a clean finish and adventurous quality.

12 oz bottle from build-a-sixer. Pours a pale yellow with a creamy head. Has a nice Kolsch-y smell to it, with a bit of hard water and light, bready malts. Sits up on the tongue nicely, though it is hard to get excited about this style in the first place. It does have a light malt taste, plus a little spice from rye. Basic German hop bitterness. More of the nice stuff Leinie’s can make when they’re not up the wazoo with pink fruit weisses. Seems to have been packaged kind of early for a summer seasonal.

Aroma was slight wheat and/or rye. A mild mild mild hop scent came through. Tastes sweet, yeasty. Barely a head and what head formed is completely gone. Low carbonation which gives this beer a flat feel. Easy to drink but bland. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cybercat (2986) - Georgia, USA - APR 6, 2014
Pours a clear pale golden with a very thick, if not too persistent, ivory head - typical of a kolsch. Aroma is strong, yeasty and malty, with just a whiff of - wet dog? Flavor is crisp and malty with a yeasty underpinning and a hint of apple. Refreshing, if a bit wan. Texture is thin, though fizz does persist a bit, leaving a crisp and clean finish. More for sipping on a hot day, or as an accompaniment to lunch, then for serious drinking.

Pours slightly reddish gold, if i remember correctly, and I don’t really remember if i do remember correctly. smell was a bit metallic and a bit of rye malt. nothing too exciting, but not terrible. Drinkable, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a clear yellow colored body, decent amount of carbonation is seen rising at a moderate pace, quickly dieing one finger white foamy head, moderate amount of lightly clingy foamy lacing. The smell was malty, some light rye. The taste was sweet through the previously mentioned flavors, dry sweet aftertaste, dry finish. The palate was light; sessionable; though adequately carbonated for the style, its still slightly felt. Overall, this is decent for the style, and decent to me. Though there are tastier Kolsches out there, this isn’t bad for a cheaper option that is pretty light, I’d probably grab another when in a pinch.

Clear golden beer with a thin, white head. Faint aromas of grass and skunk funk. Tastes of some wheat, weak malted barley, dry rye, and dirty water. Bittersweet, crisp finish. Refreshing and in-offensive. A decent beer for a hot day.

Really not much of a Kolsch, let alone a beer. Not sure if the rye is supposed to add something constructive here. Pours blonde, some crisp lager-like barley. Not much else. Bottle for free at work so can’t really complain - I got what I paid for.

Bottle.straw yellow, white head. Smell of corn and some hops. Taste is so so. Not great. Friend doesn’t drink heavy beers, so i got this for him. He liked it, so that counts.

Good old Leinies. They know how to put out a good brew. I really liked this stuff. Clean, crisp taste. Would hit the spot on a hot summer day.
