COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A 100 percent malted lager, “Leinie’s Classic” features Leinenkugel’s own unique blend of two-row and six-row malts and four varieties of hops. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts offer a complex flavor, with four different hops (Cluster, Cascade, Mt. Hood, and Hallertau) to balance the malts. Acknowledging their German heritage, Leinenkugel’s brewed Classic Amber in Reinheitsgebot tradition, where the only ingredients permitted are malts, water, hops, and yeast.

From a bottle in Japan. Light, somewhat watery, with a bit of acidity that lingers a bit. Smells nice, not a strong waft however. Somewhat creamy, but still a bit light. Not a strong beer, doesn’t stand out in any way, but tastes alright. It’s a pretty light beer, and it’s on the lighter side of flavor with more acidity than anything. If it was heavily carbonated, it would taste like seltzer water with less saltiness. Not bad, though.

From twist-off bottle into Boston Lager glass. Nice pour--pure amber color, 1.5" off-white head. Aroma is malty lager; pretty faint, a bit of metal, nothing special. Flavor surprises with a nice, cirsp, hoppiness (where was that in the aroma?) and a beautiful malty finish. This is just a BEER and it tastes fantastic. Has that hoppy lager crispness and flavor like you’d get with a pils, but with a bit more caramel. I really like this.

Pours a clear orange with a finger of rapidly dissipating stark white head. Some malted oats and a hint of banana in the nose. Watery mouthfeel, which is sort of par for the course for Leines. Lightly bitter aftertaste, but generally a mild taste of roasted malts. It’s a perfectly fine session beer but nothing spectacular.

Bottle at Bishops Arms, Skövde. Golden beer with an ok offwhite head. A bit odd malty aroma with some hops. Hoppy flavor, alittle roasted, grassy, bready malt.

POURS: clear, light bronze colour, big white frothy head, sticky lacing; SMELLS: like a beer, fairly standard nose, a tad metallic maybe, wheat and yeast but not huge; TASTE: a tad bitter, hint of sour & salt - just a hint, dry; PALATE: medium to light body - nice though, good carbonation - spry, quick finish and a hint of astringency; OVERALL: a cautious brew, not notable for anything, make a nice session beer and would not get old, just does not impress.

Bottle:   Coppery amber, clear, moderate to large frothy off-white head, spotty lacing, light carbonation.   Sweet bready malts and earth/soil on the nose.   Sweet maltiness on the tongue, not heavy, slight mealiness with a bit of that aformentioned earth/soil.   Surprisingly not half bad.   Thought it would be much ligher.   Otherwise its a moderate beer.   Clean finish, goes somewhat quick.   Just soft lingering malts, on the sweet side.   I prefer my Ambers more malty with some hop to it, this one had none.   However, a respectable beer from Leinenkugel.
