I really like this dark lager. Easy to chug. A nice surprise in the variety pack. CanIHave4Beers (933), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Updated: Feb 27, 2009A nice brew, one of my old favorites from the college days. I recently had a six pack and was just a little surprised at just how much I enjoyed it now as I’m far more experienced a beer drinker/taster now than I was then.
Sadly this is one of the few really good Leinenkugels beers left, I just hope they don’t replace it with more fruit beer like they seem to have taken a likening to lately.
The beer pours dark, but held up to the light it is clear and transparent, revealing a deep amber hue. Not a ton of head, subsequently not a ton of lace.
As far as taste and smell, this beer has a lot going for it, deep roasty and chocolate aromas come through. The hops are pleasantly present in the taste and give it a nice bitterness. I’ve always been perplexed however at the "creamy" part of the name, and figured it was more of a marketing thing than a tasting thing. I’ve always thought of it more as a toasty dark than a creamy dark, however it is nice and smooth without sacrificing any flavor.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Aroma: A little bit of oats & some chocolate. Taste: Similar to aroma. Taste was a little watered down, except the body was pretty thick. Some nice bitter malts in the finish. Sourness in the finish as well. Overall a nice beer. captianoats (30), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2007 From Bottle: Came from the Leinenkugels variety pack. Has notes of coffee in the scent, and the flavor is that of coffee and chocolate. It is dark for a lager, but it is nice to have a dark beer that you can drink during summer. May pick it up again in a few months to find out if I’ll eat those words or not. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Bottle. Nice aroma of some toasted malt, a hint of coffee and some sweet chocolate. Pours dark brown with a creamy khaki head. Actually fairly light on the tongue. A hint of light malt and light coffee notes, but rather watery. Thin on the palate. A minor disappointment after the promising nose. fatguys (65), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2007 This is rather thick for a dark lager, which was a pleasant surprise. Porter-like notes of chocolate and coffee are present but don’t overwhelm the palate. In the world of dark beers this is a lightweight, but there’s enough present to make it a frequent choice.
