Good if you want a dark and creamy beer. Very basic though, look around for something a tad better. ReRate 4/18/2001 better than the 3 pts i gave it before-this is leine’s best beer by far and the great thing about this stuff is that its easy to get and its CHEEP as hell!!!!!! if you want to start drinking craft beers, pick up some leine’s Creamy dark, Red, BigButt or honey weiss

Had one on tap at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse in Cincy. Murky dark copper brown with orange highlights. Creamy off-white diminishing head. Light clean nose of straw, hay, grain, flowers, perfume, earth, and soap. Very toasty sweet malt taste with an average yeasty nutty finish. The medium body is thin and creamy with lively carbonation. The finish clean. One smooth brew.

Very drinkable for a dark. Tastes great on tap! I like drinking it in hot weather for some reason.

A dark and creamy beer that is pretty good. The dark and rich color pleases the eye and the taste is smooth and filling.

Good, but nothing like the Dunkels from across the pond.

A dunkel or a schwarzbier? I’m leaning towards schwarzbier: its darker and is less sweet and more spicy than dunkels.
Anyhoo: Dark garnet/brown color with a thick light tan head. Spicy chocolatey aroma, and a warm chocolatey malt flavor. Medium body - clean - nice. One of Leinie’s best beers.

Easy to drink, not very challenging. Seems a bit thin, and I couldn’t notice any hopping at all. Pleasant mocha flavor, with a generous malty sweetness.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2003 Rerate 1/30/03: Now that this is no longer my first Dunkel, I can still say this is smooth and easy to drink, but not as good as other Dunkels I have tried since. 1/19/02 (3.9): Very impressive color and aroma. Smooth pour and it earns the 'creamy' moniker, as I was surprised how smooth it was for a dark beer. My first Dunkel and I would definitely buy again.
