The new amber-toned brew features roasted malt character, with English two-row malts provide the beer with a maple aroma and pronounced chocolate, caramel and hazelnut top notes.

A very decent drinkable beer. The flavor has some nice sweet caramel and nuts. However, I get a little bit too much of a metallic flavor from the beer along with it. The flavor does have some good malt. Overall nice but nothing stands out a lot either.

Pours a nice golden brown, Aromas of nuts, caramel, and hops. Flavor is semi-sweet caramel and nuts with a nice subtle hop.

Rated based on notes taken 19 Dec 2011 -- Was drinking this when I found out Kim Jong Il died. So that kinda boosts this beer a little, haha. Otherwise a mediocre Brown.

"a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. i was pretty shocked at how enjoyable this beer was, and as it stands now, one of my favorite brown ales. light brown color, and a light body that ends up fitting the beer. a heavier beer this sweet would have been cloying, but this was not. aroma is nutty, tootsie roll, and a hint of smoke. flavor much the same, but replace the hint of smoke with a hint of caramel. you can tell that something in there is artificial, but it tasted and smelled so nice, and was such a nice surprise, i didn’t even care. possible upon multiple revisits, this score would be downgraded, but for now, gotta show it the love. best Leinenkugel beer I’ve had. Another summer beer from Leinenkugels! Smooth flavor, refreshing. But, the other selections are better than this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Another retired Leinie’s I used to like to drink back in the day. Here’s my take on it. This was poured into a pint glass every time I had it. The appearance was a hazy dark brown color with light red tints along the edges somewhat clear and allowing light streams of carbonation to be seen rising in the body. The smell had a warming ginger, allspice and cinnamon running all about and underneath my nose through some light caramel malts. The taste was a combination of the previously mentioned flavors and allowed a decent chocolate flavoring in the background. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was fairly good for the style and for me. Overall, nice brown ale with winter/autumn spices. Hopefully, one day, Leinie’s will bring this one back.

Reviewed from notes: pours a clear darker amber almost brown with off-white head. Nuts, caramel, and toffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with nuttiness.

Definitely nutty, amber, some caramel and medium malt notes. Not terrible, not great.

12 oz served in a pint glass about 1 month before end of "best by" date stamped on bottle. {from Feb. 2011 notes} A - a clear, dark, red-orange amber with a short-lived and smallish head. Virtually no visible carbonation. S & T - I thought the "Nut Brown" would refer to the coloration, but perhaps it refers better to the taste which is markedly nutty in both mid-taste and in the finish. I found the pronounced nuttiness to be the best attribute of this otherwise rather pedestrian brew, elevating it to a beer of interest and, likely, making it an exceptional accompaniment to certain foods (yet to be identified). The taste also has a nice roasted malt character and is considerably better than the aroma which has a less pronounced nuttiness and lacks any other particularly interesting or inviting quality. Too little carbonation had a small negative impact on my ratings of both appearance and mouthfeel. Mouthfeel is also a bit too light. Drinkability is good, but impaired by aroma.

Bottle, pours brown with a thin white head, sweet taste of nuts, maple, malt, and a hint of caramel, not a bad winter beer

bottle. Light brown with small head. Thin brown ale with a mild malt base and light nuttiness. Smooth but fairly watery.
