3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2003 Bottled. Canít find a lot to get enthused about here. Kinda tastes more like any American lager beer than anything with "honey" or "weiss" in the name. No complaints about the color though, smell and taste are not off-putting. I had this in a typical Wisconsin bar where this was the only alternative to macro-crap, so it was more refreshing than it otherwise might be. If you had a category for value pricing, this would rate higher.
Re-sampled, 5/29/03. I had a bottle from the ĒLeinie's Lodge Tackle BoxĒ and my opinion has improved somewhat. There actually is a spicy weizen aspect in the nose that improves the tasting experience. Maybe the bottles I drank at the bar had been in a glass-doored colloer under flourescent lights for too long? Maybe I had this inside a cardboard box in my fridge at proper beer temps? I dunno. I'm notching my rating up from 3.2 to whatever it is currently.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clear, gold, light beer appearance. Crisp, better drink really cold. A "drink up" beer, not really one to savor.

12 oz bottle from Tipsyís into a pint glass. Gold and clear appearance with a fully diminishing head. Minimal aroma of corn, pale malts, bread and honey. Similar flavor, pretty bland, not much going on. Schwag all the way

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Light aromas of citrus, wheat and apricot. Tastes more of the same with some honey coming through as well as a slight corn taste. Refreshing, light and sweet. Not really a wheat ale, but enjoyable on a hot day.

Blah. So much corn, so little Weiss. Not a good beer at all. This brewery doesn't really know how to make beer.

Iíve always enjoyed a cold honey Weiss on a hot summer day. Itís december in MN so that day is not today but I decided to get one on tap at Maynards. Although I took the first few sips without the lemon I added it as I feel thatís the way itís meant to be drank. Clean, refreshing easy to drink with my dinner. For what itís meant to be a solid beer. Much better than the Stella Artois I had before this.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear bright copper amber with a frothy white head, broken sheets of lace. Taste is slightly sweet malt that moves to the finish without incident, but on the swallow an odd woody bittering shows, detracting considerably from the overall effect. Not a keeper.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at the Barley Pop in Minot ND. Appearance: finger white head that does not last, pale straw color, clear. Aroma: wheat, honey. Palate: light body, average carbonation, light dry finish, refreshing. Taste: sweet honey to sweet wheat. Overall, drinkable, decent balance for a honey wheat, refreshing.

Draft: This is one of the few Leinenkugels beers that I have found myself to enjoy. This is light, crisp and tasty. Itís got a great refreshing grassy note that sits well with the sweet honey and makes the whole beer come off as very summery. Nice brew.
