UPDATED: MAY 30, 2003 Bottled. Can’t find a lot to get enthused about here. Kinda tastes more like any American lager beer than anything with "honey" or "weiss" in the name. No complaints about the color though, smell and taste are not off-putting. I had this in a typical Wisconsin bar where this was the only alternative to macro-crap, so it was more refreshing than it otherwise might be. If you had a category for value pricing, this would rate higher.
Re-sampled, 5/29/03. I had a bottle from the ”Leinie's Lodge Tackle Box” and my opinion has improved somewhat. There actually is a spicy weizen aspect in the nose that improves the tasting experience. Maybe the bottles I drank at the bar had been in a glass-doored colloer under flourescent lights for too long? Maybe I had this inside a cardboard box in my fridge at proper beer temps? I dunno. I'm notching my rating up from 3.2 to whatever it is currently.

Pours a light, brilliant golden color. Well carbonated. Pours two finger short lived head. Some lacing. Very filtered. I expected it to be cloudy. Beautiful clear color.

Aroma is slightly honey. Wheat and bready. It smells a little like a honey buttered roll. <a>Taste is sweet bread, and honey. It’s different than the nose however. There’s a little bitterness on the back end. It’s not too sweet. It really doesn’t have a lot of flavor, but it does taste good.

Mouthfeel is clean and refreshing. Very drinkable. Finishes slightly wet.

Overall, it’s not amazing. But it is tasty. I would have it again.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2015 Be a dear, dear, and get me some honey.....you know the NECTAR OF THE GODS, i.e. BLATZ! This stuff, not so much. It has its merits ( like taking a dump on the job) but when you have your palate trained to enjoy the finer things in life (i.e. Blatz) all else is such a monumental letdown that you can’t help but scream out at the top of your lungs: "WHY ME GOD?!"

Clear, gold, light beer appearance. Crisp, better drink really cold. A "drink up" beer, not really one to savor.

12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s into a pint glass. Gold and clear appearance with a fully diminishing head. Minimal aroma of corn, pale malts, bread and honey. Similar flavor, pretty bland, not much going on. Schwag all the way
