Our newest year round beer. A true German Helles brewed with five American hops. Crisp and refreshing Helles beer meets pleasant citrus hop character from Citra, Simcoe, Cluster, Centennial, and Chinook hops.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2013 Bottle. Clear golden yellow pour with a small white head. Wet grass, slight citrus, fairly sharp hop bite, a bit drying / numbing on the tongue. Meh.

Bottle. Lemon/orange malt and hay/straw aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Lightly sweet citrus, barley malt, and hay flavor. Not bad - hoppy for the style.

Bottle pours clear yellow with soapy white persistent head. Grassy aroma. Taste slightly sweet malts with pine hops. I didn’t notice much citrus. Did get better as it warmed. Unremarkable.

On tap @ Lambeau Field, in the Leinies Lounge. This is the first Leinenkugal beer I’ve had that doesn’t have a faint farty smell or a fake fruit smell. Pleasant sweet grassy-citrus aroma. That pleasntness carries into the palate too, married to sweet soft malts. Not really true to the helles style, more of an APA really, but BY FAR the best beer available at the Packers game!

Clear gold pour, no head. Aromas of skunk and wet grass. Taste is slightly bitter, but no citrus present. Some cardboard. Finishes bland and watery. Pretty terrible.

Bottle. Pours a clear and bright yellow body with a one finger fizzy white head that retained as a thin film. The nose is clean with bready malt and a nice bright citrusy and floral hoppiness. One of the best smelling Leinenkugel beers I’ve ever come across. The flavor is one of their better efforts as well, very clean and well lagered with a nice light bready and doughy pale maltiness, on the drier side. I like the mix of hops in here, they’re really bright and crisp, minimal bitterness. Light bodied, fairly crisp, nice soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice surprise with this one. I was not expecting great things, but this delivered.

Clear gold with a thick white head with lots of carbonation. Nice hop aroma of pine and citrus. Excellent hop bitterness without over doing it. Lingering dry finish.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2014 Bottle: Vibrant goldenrod with very nice clarity and a semi-chunky white cap this clings well to the glass. Aroma is full if very musty grain, citrus zest from the hops; some lemon, orange, and very light grassiness. Mild bready malt, but mostly really damp, musky graininess. Faint DMS. Taste is soft cracker and bread malt up front with some grains before a small surge of lightly citric hops comes into play. Lemon, orange zest, some other citrusy sweetness... Very light. Grassy, just a little earthy and bitter, too. Crisp mouth feel, thin bodied. Finishing heap of clumpy lager yeast coats the palate with a bit of hop resin. One of Leinie’s better beers, really. Too hoppy for a helles, not as much malty sweetness as I expected, but alright when viewed as a tame American pale.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, BB date stamped 16 Dec. 2013 on neck, into a snifter. Appearance – The beer pours a medium amber color with some visible carbonation. The head has weak retention and elaves minimal lacing. Aroma: citrusy hops with some light bread and grassy and floral aspects. Taste: Starts bready and turns more hoppy without adding much bitterness. Very mildly bitter; mild even for style. Mouthfeel – Medium body; medium+ carbonation level; Crisp. Overall: an Americanized Helles that addes more citrus tones but seems less integrated and refined than a good German Helles.
