Our newest year round beer. A true German Helles brewed with five American hops. Crisp and refreshing Helles beer meets pleasant citrus hop character from Citra, Simcoe, Cluster, Centennial, and Chinook hops.

Clear, pale gold pour with a white head. The aroma has mild citrus and earthy notes. It has a light, crisp body with lively carbonation. The taste is refreshing and mildly sweet. This beer goes down fast with a clean finish.

On tap at the annual Chicago Beer Society picnic, and self served to a clear, plastic shaker showing a clear & bright golden tone, with abundant, frothy, soft white head foam. The aroma was light grain/Pils scent, light yeast, and a hint of hop spice & tartness. Light bodied, with suitable carbonation, low hop bitterness, mild but smooth malt, just a hint of corn sweetness, but a crisp finish. Nicely sessionable & complementary picnic faire that fit the bill for the afternoon.

9/2/13. 12oz bottle from Exit 18. Drinking this gem tick straight from the bottle. As far as I can tell, there’s a plain bready malt aroma, not much else. Bigger flavor, bitter hop character, floral, citrus, and more of that bready malt. Not awful.

Ok beer. A very macro beer feel. Not much hop flavor. Not that complex. Works well with pizza since it doesn’t take away from the flavor of the food. Probably won’t buy again unless I’m in some backwoods Wisconsin bar that only carrys Leinies as their craft beer (happens often).

12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained, white head, over a clear dark yellow (SRM 4) body.....nose is sweet Pils malts, light citrus, pine from the hops.....taste is sweet Pils malts with pine, citrus peel from the hops, leading to a moderate, lingering bitter finish.....mouth feel light of medium, slightly astringent, carbonation makes a clean acid finish. While a light, nicely balanced, pleasant beer this is not a Dortmunder/Helles. It uses five different American hops rather then German noble varieties. The result is a parody of this specific style. Rating to the BJCP 5/3/7/5/5

12 ounce bottle. Fresh, just delivered. This is not a German Helles. Trust me, I am from there. It is a rather nice American lager, with a good malt body and a strong west coast hop aroma and taste. Nice color and clarity, good foam retention. Strong caramel malt aftertaste. This product is very similar to Samuel Adam´s Noble Pils and Schell´s PIls, although not quite as bitter. Perhaps one of the best offerings from Leinenkugel´s. Those who like Chinook hop aroma will not be disappointed.

Nearly clear light golden frothy white head soapy lacing. Light grass and citrus aroma some wheaty notes. Avg palate. Sweet grainy flavor like a less pissy miller with a hop loading in the finish. I can drink it but thats about it.

Pours a clear yellow with a thin white head. Nose is hops, hops. Palate is light body with a hop bitterness. Aftertaste lingers.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2014 Another off "style" beer from my hometown brewery. Pours gold with a soapy white head that thins quickly but lingers till the end. Heavily carbonated. Aromas of citrusy Northwest hops with a vegetal hint. Surprisingly good lacing. The hop combo hits initially and is a bit muddled but pleasant -- not harsh or metallic like other Leinie?s brews. The gentle malt backing then takes over with notes of biscuit and corn. Very clean finish. Sessionable. Good but not exceptional. One of Leinie?s better brews. Let?s hope it?s not replaced in a year.

gold pour with a thick white head. aroma is grassy floral, citrusy and cooked vegetal. biscuity crystal malt. Soapy lemon citrus flavour with floral/vegetal tones over grainy malt. Not working for me.
