Red-amber color with a malty cola aroma. Good carbonation. Flavor is extremely malty with an acrid bitter malt finish. Not enough texture or hops. Not a great beer, but one of the best that strive to be a "great Budweiser".

Allright this beer isnt really too bad. Is it a complex, malty example of a great Oktoberfest beer? No. I dont think that is what it is trying to achieve, though. It is a beer with the slightest hint of hops and a sweet caramel malt background. On the palate it is somewhat watery, but it goes down pretty easily. The average Leinies drinker isnt looking for a full flavor complex beer, so this fits the profile. Come on, people from Wisconsin think that ketcup is spicy. For what it is, this beer is okay and that is why I rated it accordingly. If you are looking for a great Oktoberfest, look elsewhere. If you are looking for an easy drinking beer, this is it.

Draft. Clear reddish-orange pour with a sizable well-retained head. Aroma was primarily sweet malts, with only a hint of hops... but not a whole lot really going on. Flavor struck all the wrong chords with me, however.. it picked up a nasty berry-like sweetness similar to their Berry Weiss (which is awful), which clashed with the little bit of hops on the finish. The only highlight was the little bit of caramel malt that found its way to the tongue. Really proved hard to swallow.

found this on somepaper from last fall. pours a redish hughed brown colo rw/ a big head. Aroma is very weak lightly bready light carmel. Palate is to watery. Flavor is mild light bitter citrus hop and a bit of carmel malt not much of an octoberfest but not really bad either.

Not a bad beer. Nice dark color and good flavor, maltiness and some bitterness. Better than any macro.

Gosh, to think that when I was in college all of my friends viewed Leinenkugels as such a cut above the regular world of beer. Well, Leinie’s is that much, to be fair. But this beer has little to set it apart from the macros, other than an additional infusion of malty sweetness. Bronze color, big head. Bland aroma, just a hint of caramel. The hops do little here. Drinkable but bland, poor Oktoberfest. Too bad, as I still have fondness of "Leinie’s" as a brand.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2004 Seems like everyone does an Oktoberfest these days. Leine’s should stick to its more classic American ales rather then delve into this category. There’s nothing special about their Oktoberfest - it has all of the traditional characteristics one would expect from an Oktoberfest: malty, caramel-lke, etc. To me, their Oktoberfest is almost a sweetened version of their Red. If you want a cheap Oktoberfest, go with Augsburger. If you want the best, go German.

I thought this was pretty good as most of Leinenkugels beers are. I saw it at a gas station and had to have it. Can’t seem to find many more Leinie beers around here.

Nothing special here as it is a typical big brewmakers version of a special brew. Wouldn’t go to far out of the way to get this one.
