I got started on Leinie’s Red. When I was first starting to drink beer (17 or 18, I drank rum before that) This is all I would drink, Definatly a good starter beer. Eventually I took of the training wheels. I should go and pick up a sixer of this one for nostalgia.

A present from a friend who received it with his beer of the month club, he was jazzed it was a beer from Wisconsin...s drink we did, and well, eh...
Easy to drink Red copper color, I don’t know if I would go out of my way to find it, but alas, free to me beer is beer indeed. Really, cause yeah, it’s interesting enough, but doesn’t wow me.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 TuckahoeJoe (12) - Tuckahoe, New York, USA - FEB 9, 2007
Bad weather caused my 20 min stop over at O’hare to be 4 hrs. We ate at the best airport restaurant we could find. On tap were Bud, Bud lite, Michalob "select:", and Leinenkugels Red. Excited to try a ’local’ beer from Wisconsin, I ordered a pint with my quesedias. I’t looked good. Nice medium dark coppery color. Big yellow head ( quickly fading). As I bought the Lager to my mouth I noticed NO aroma. If I closed my eyes as I drank it I would have imagined a lite, watery beer--not the deep copper I saw. Oh well. As they say, "you can’t judge a book by the cover."---but it IS better than the other three selctions on tap that day.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 KiDAcE (35) - Canton, Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2007
This is a beer to be enjoyed in a not too frequent way. I did like the nutty flavor and it’s aroma was slightly on the weak side and really didn’t know what to expect from it’s taste. It tasted of slight caramel and malts.

A step above regular macrobrews, but nothing spectacular. Caramel and nutty flavor, enough to make enjoyable. I will give it another shot at some point, but I would not go out of my way.

Bottle: Clear amber color with a white head. Aroma, grassy, caramel, pale malts. Flavor, stale caramel, bready, some sedated bitterness, a little nutty. Clean finish, not to good though.
