Amber red color looked great. This Leinie is definitely better than a Killian’s, but still has an American Macro feel to it. Worth drinking, decent flavor, and fairly smooth, but there are better reds out there.

Pours a nice dark red color. Like with most of the Leinies beer it could be stronger. But overall a pretty good beer.

Pours a dark reddish-brown color with a small, white, rocky head. Aroma is bland and sugary like the other Leinies I’ve had so far (Original and Honey Weiss); this has a touch more maltyness in the nose and a touch of caramel. Flavor has the caramel and barely the malt, along with a light sourness in the middle; more bitterness in the finish than the others, but still hardly any. Medium body. Not bad for the style, and one of the better Leinenkugels beers, but that’s not saying much.

I definitely agree with the previous poster that this beer is underrated on Ratebeer.com. Leinenkugel’s Red is a very good introduction for a beer drinker who thinks Killian’s is a good red. The beer is reddish brown in color, with a rapidly dissipating head. The beer is best cold, but it’s extremely pleasant to drink a pitcher with some BW3’s buffalo wings. The flavor is semi-astringent, bitterness mixed with grassy/metallic tracings. The mouthfeel is thin but hearty, in a weird way. You feel like you’re drinking a very solid lager with excellent thirst-quenching abilities.

I think this beer has been underrated on this site. Nothing special about the aroma. Nice deep amber but I don’t really consider this a dark beer. Lively on the palate, fairly long lasting head. I wouldn’t call this a sipper, but it is a thirst quencher with some kick to it. Not sweet at all like a bock, with a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. I think this is a nice middle of the road beer.

Pretty thin going down for a red brew, but i still certainly enjoy the Leinies brand, and being from WI i buy them quite often. Certainly far superior then Killians, as that is really weak. But for a micro brew red, its still kinda weak.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear red (duh!) with a whitish head that lasted through about half the glass. Mild sweet aroma along with a kind of metallic, almost iron smell as well. Flavor was pleasant but kind of blah. Some caramel sweetness, a bit of hops, but just sort of blah. A bit thin in the mouthfeel. I was disappointed - I was hoping for more.

This was my main cross over beer from the macro pale lager swill. I adventured into this starting in college. Didn’t care for it initially, but it grew on me eventually. I preferred this beer over Killian’s, and others at the time such as Red Wolf. Do they still sell that stuff anymore? Anyway, I digress. Nowadays, I will say this is a very average beer, and therefore I don’t order it much anymore. Average head with average lacing. Clear red body, with some toffee malt.
