Very nice red color. Creamy head and decent amount of bitterness. Sweet in taste. The finish is smooth.

Like other Leinie's beer, it leaves a cheesy aftertaste in my mouth. Has a nice hops flavoring. A little bit of bitter taste. Never much head on it when we get a pitcher at the bar.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2005 "The Pride of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin", eh? This beer drinks smooth and tasty. I was suprised with how satisfying it actually was. Rich in color and flavor. Chestnutty. Wheaty even. Nothing complex or mysterious, just tasty beer! Better than a Killians, but I don’t think that is saying too much! A good midwesterners brew!

color and aroma okay - very watery - lacking is post pour carbination - would not buy it again - I saw below that they have been bought out by Miller - I guess I got here to WI too late (07-15-03) to have tasted the real Macoy :(

Hey, this wasn't so bad! Cereal aroma and flavor rules the day. Some sweetness and malt tang evident in the flavor. Red body with an off-white head. Little praise, little criticism.

A clear ruby/red pour with a quickly diminishing head. Not much of an aroma. Faint malty nose. I'm not familiar with many American Darks, but I wasn't impressed. They could add a little more flavor to this beer. But I guess for the price ($4.99 for a 6) you get what you pay for.

I'm not normally a fan of red beers but this one is enjoyable in its own right. The amber color and sweet aroma are quite nice. Could have a bit more flavor though.

Not a bad brew. Nice color, and a good aroma. Has decent malts as well. It's a drinkable beer.

This stuff is way too wqatery for my taste... where's the body? Another small brewer ruined by Miller...

From the bottle--I didn't get to see this in a glass so I can't vouch for its appearance. Not much of an aroma but maybe a slight hint of something in there--hops? Breakfast sausage? I dunno. Taste is pretty good; initial maltiness with a decent hop bite that sets in quickly. A little too fizzy for my palate. Overall, a perfectly drinkable beer; would make a very nice beer for picnics.
