2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Fatehunter (750) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Finger of tan head, low retention. Dark brown body.
Smells of vanilla and roasted malt.
Initial light taste of sweetness, then chocolate and finally vanilla to end.
Thin body, low carbonation.
A fair porter. A fuller body would help and it’s a bit sweet for my taste.

Simple flavor. Not very complex and not a very true porter. Its drinkable and offers decent flavor.

Enjoyed at Thanksgiving dinner with my family, straight from the bottle. I didn’t take tasting notes for this one, but remember it being pretty decent. I’m typically not a big fan of the beers from this brewery, but this one was pretty smooth with decadent vanilla notes and light chocolate. Would definitely have this again.

I think for the price and in comparison to the quality of other their other products it was a surprisingly decent beer. It has a nice flavor with hints of spices that you would hope to find in a Winter seasonal. It perhaps isn’t as thick as some Winter beers, but it’s Leinenkugel’s. They make a good but cheap product (which is not to say this is a bad thing. This is theirs and many other breweries niche). I highly recommend at least giving this a try.

Brown pour with thin tan head. Aroma is caramel malt with just a hint of vanilla. Taste is slightly bitter chocolate with some roast and carmel notes and some light vanilla. Finishes somewhat sweet and dry. Not a terribly heavy or complex porter, but not a terrible brew either. Quite easy drinking.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 badgerben (4253) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Dark brown color with a whispy head. Aroma of vanilla bean. Slightly bitter chocolate flavor. Light vanilla. Not really sweet or bitter, but maybe a bit astringent.

12 oz. Bottle. A one dimensional brew that reminded me of Altwater’s Vanilla Porter. Just a lot of vanilla and not much else. Sickeningly sweet.

Draft. Poured clear, medium-deep brown with a reddish tint to it. The aroma picked up heavy vanilla bean paired with lightly-smoked black malt.. sweet overall. The flavor found sweet vanilla bean and roasty black malts at the core, with bitter coffee and smoky roast around.. higher, fairly sharp acidity at times.. finished with prickly carbonation amplifying sharp-ish roast. Light-medium bodied with sharp carbonation on the palate.. I was expecting a little smoother and creamier, but it was alright.

the faintest of the vanilla aRoma. Dark black pour. Small head. Not much vanilla or anything else in terms of flavor. Weak carbonation. Light and a bit creamy. Not a good Porter but easy enough to drink.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 dlbeer (383) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Tap. Nice tan head quickly diminishing leaving no lacing. Dark brown with a reddish tint in color. Smooth drinking, thinner beer but creamy taste. Light aftertaste but perfectly balanced. A dark beer that I could drink all night.
